I have decided to attempt contacts for the first time. Turns out my right eye has astigmatism, so my doctor put me in a trial set of Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism.

Anyone else wear contacts with astigmatism?

The left one, the normal lense, is fantastic. However the right one with astigmatism has me seeing a blur on the outside edge all the time. Kind of like when you see a smudge in your eye and you rub it and it goes away, except this one doesn't go away. Anyone know if this is normal?

I do and no it's not normal. A pair that fits correctly should be perfect. They will probably need to try you on a different brand. I switched brands a few years ago(yearly to weekly ones) and had to try a few different types because of headaches the new ones gave me. I ended up with ones that weren't even my exact prescription because they didn't quite go as high as I needed.

I have astigmatism in my right eye too.

And I do remember having that, I think it's on the outer edge of your eye (the side away from your nose) that feels like it's blurry. But I can't remember when it stopped...I've since changed brands but not sure if it changed with the first brand.

It's always best to just ask your ophthalmologist.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just wear these for the trial and let the doc know at the follow up next week. Much appreciated.

I have it in both eyes, but is slight, and so I wear regular ones since it's much cheaper.

I used to dread it because on some days it would be blurry and I'd have to switch contacts, but since I started using ClearCare, it has never happened again.

At night, it actually gets worse since my pupil grow bigger usually and things get blurrier. I actually have better than 20/20 vision when it's very bright and my pupil's are tiny.

i have them and when i wear them they work fine. i just want to re-examine lasic and see what i can do from there. but last time i had lasic i rubbed my left eye too much and warped the cornes and had to have a transplant.

i'll go put a pair on and see what happens.

Also, since you're new to contacts, word of advice. Unless you have the proper lens case, do NOT buy hydrogen peroxide solution. The store brand ones usually aren't too clear about whether it's saline or peroxide.

And believe me, hydrogen peroxide belongs nowhere in your eye.
