It’s probably Stephen effect , the penny pincherI guess the argument that Jerry pays his guys is no longer valid.
Most of his guys come off a garbage heap. He pays them, but it's more like minimum wage than $10 million APY.I guess the argument that Jerry pays his guys is no longer valid.
The Browns have a bunch of their contracts spread out with void years is the only reason they have lower cap hits.AAV doesn't mean anything. The Cowboys and Browns have the same number of players with a $10m+ cap hit. Next year, the Browns are already projected at around $60m over the cap.
People are wrong to think that Dallas has cap issues, but it's not like they aren't signing their players.
Yes, and they have both extensions and void years kicking in next year that's going to rocket up their cap hit.The Browns have a bunch of their contracts spread out with void years is the only reason they have lower cap hits.
It's only going to be criticized when it doesn't work. But at least it's effort. Only 1 team wins every year. What the Browns are doing is backloading contracts and restructuring to create short-term cap space, which this board always despised when Jerry did it.
Because he was liberal in doing it. Now he’s swung the other way in terms of cap management.Yes, and they have both extensions and void years kicking in next year that's going to rocket up their cap hit.
Denzel Ward's cap hit doubles next year when his extension kicks in to $24m. Amari's hit is $22m in a void year. Jedrick Wils' hit is $12m in a void year. Bitonio, Teller and Njoku have combined VOID year hits of ~$60m and Z Smith, Okoronkwo, Thornhill and Pocic are another ~$36m in 2026. That's almost $100m cap hits for players not on the roster - some will sign extensions probably, but it's not like the Browns are in good shape.
