This was the first time I ever saw or heard of Cooper Rush. He was the starting QB for the Central Michigan Chippewas in their stunning 2016 upset of 22nd ranked Oklahoma State in Stillwater. The Chippewas scored on the game’s last play to defeat Okla State 30-27. Rush threw for 364 yards, 4 TDs and an INT.

Also playing in that game for Okla State was current Cowboy WR James Washington and current Steelers 3rd string QB Mason Rudolf.

Wow!! Never knew college QB Rush. Looks like that was a great game if you were a Central Michigan fan!!
One of the weirdest endings to a game I’ve ever seen.

In one of the dumbest plays I’ve ever seen, Ok state on a 4th down with 4 secs left threw a pass out of bounds and got an intentional grounding call, giving C. Michigan one untimed down. Boom, TD, ball game.

Certainly one of the most bizarre endings to a game I've ever seen. Why wouldn't the OSU QB just run backwards for 4 seconds, lol.

I remember seeing the highlight of that play the day it happened but never knew it was Rush who threw it.

Thank you for posting it! :D

Looking at Cooper Rush’s stats in college, he had impressive numbers- except- he threw way too many picks. He threw 55 interceptions in 4 years at Central Michigan. He’s only thrown one in his 4 starts in Big D.

If he had a bigger arm he'd be a prized offseason commodity, with that said if he continues to win he will be a very prized commodity regardless of arm strength.

I was actually watching that game, although I'm not sure why. I remember laughing at the noodle arm CMU QB whose Hail Mary went to the 10 yard line.

Fast forward to today and, lo and behold, he's our guy. But if you saw his back-footed throws for picks on Sunday you know why he's been a journeyman.

Smart, efficient, cool, does the job, but Rush just doesn't have the arm of a top NFL QB. Those picks were called back, but the throws were the throws.

He's doing all that's been asked of him, and the defense has helped him win games. But the Tom Brady and Kurt Warner comparisons are nonsense.

Well said. Rush threw a lot of pics in College and IMO has been lucky more than twice to not throw a few lately.

Don’t get me wrong- I admire the way he’s played as our backup. But his talent is clearly limited and the longer he’s expected to lead the offense the harder it will be for him to keep this level of performance going. The clock is going to strike midnight soon.

Wow!

Tolerant and graceful mod, me beliefs are these.

1. I bet Dak had good days too.
2. We seem (and perchance I am part of the problem here) to build Rush up only to remind
us to either deify or trash him.

I was Rush's biggest critics. The ginger has won me over. Now he is doing well and the Dak showgoers are smirking knowing that Jerry wants same ol same ol uninspired and his investment performing.
At tha minimum, me fonts of knowledge, Rush is outpacing Dak (going back our 5 last games into 2021) in style, gile and most important, leadership.
