Correctional Officers

Hey all,

Thanks for taking a look at this. I just wanted to ask if there were any correctional officers here on CowboysZone who could take a minute and Private Message me for some questions I have.

This is my senior year in high school and I plan on majoring in Criminal Justice- Corrections. The schools I have applied to are UT Tyler, UT Arlington, Texas State-San Marcos, Sam Houston and UNT.

My first interest in the job happened when I took a school field trip to the Attica State Prison. I noticed it looked like an interesting job (not the safest I know.) Most of the guards were people like me (big white guys, no racism intended) and I don't mind the intensity of the job.

If you are a correctional officer or have ever been a CO, please PM me. It will help me alot.

Well not a guard went to school at Sam Houston State and had a room mate and several other people I know that worked for TDC if you go to school at Sam you can also work as TDC guard etc and help pay the school Bills knew about 3-4 people do that.

What is funny one of the main TDC administration buildings in Huntsville now is the original Walmart before they built the Super Walmart.

By the Way Sam Houston has one of the top rated CJ colleges in the US and at one time was the Only PHD program it had.

If you have any questions about the school and stuff I can help and any other information I can give you from being around guys that worked TDC.

I've tried PMing you, but its not sending for some reason. I've been in corrections for 18 years here in Texas. I'm currently a Lieutenant @ a unit in region II. SHSU is by far the best choice. I didn't go to college there but I've attended several training classes there. It would be my recommendation. A lot of high ranking administration went to school at SHSU. Ill try to answer any questions you may have.
