Cortez in a rhythm?

One thing I noticed about his kickoffs during warmups before last week's game is that he is a 50% hitter when it comes to getting the ball into the endzone. I mean he did 12 straight kicks into the endzone and the length of his kicks were really random.

He would hit one 3 yards deep into the endzone and on the next kick only get it to the 10 yard line, then one to the 2 yard line, then back into the endzone and finally back to the 10-12 yard line.

That is a pretty consistent 10-15 yard swing on his kickoffs.

I'll take his 10-15 yard swings on kickoffs over Cundiff's consistently landing on the 15 yard line.

I'm not sure about Cortez's FG consistency, but I like how at least half his kickoffs land in the endzone ... something Cundiff rarely does.

The great thing, at least to this point, is how the kicking game isn't near the top of our list of concerns. The kickoffs are pretty solid. Field goal kicking is solid. To get that from a guy we picked up off the street in August is pretty good, IMO.

The French Long Snapper hasn't blotched anything lately.

Let's hope it stays that way. No more "exciting" extra point attempts.

Yep, Ed. Those fundamental areas have definitely been addressed effectively. For the time being at least.
