Could Brandon Aubrey really have made that kick?

Pretty sure he has the leg. It's just a matter of accuracy. Would have been nice to see him try.

Kickers only get that opportunity in just the right circumstances. That was it. Stupid Edoga.
A big issue with super-long kicks like that is the angle. You have to kick it lower to make the distance, which makes it easier to block. If you kick it higher, you risk the return of a short miss.

Was that kick gonna break the record?

I kind glad they didn’t make him kick it and get him a miss
The record is 66, so it would have tied it.

I would have liked to have seen him try it since it wouldn't have really affected the outcome of the game, but also didn't want him to end up with a miss just because we tried a kick every kicker is likely to miss.

It would have tied Justin Tuck's kick for the Ravens versus the Lions on September 26th, 2021 at Ford Field (indoor stadium).

Yup, which makes it near impossible to get the right situation (risk wiggle room).

Blowout at end of the half, or last second attempt at the end of a game are about the only times it'd be attempted.

14 games to go in the season; there's a chance the opportunity will present itself again in 2023.

I just wanted to see him give it a shot. Could've cared less if he missed really, since we were stomping. Was more interested to see how close he got.

They wouldn't try it if he couldn't make it.
I don't know with these guys sometimes. They keep players in when games are over just to pad stats.

I remember the announcer yesterday saying he was good from about 56 in warmups. That wouldn't give me confidence that he could have hit from 66 or whatever it was

The coaches know what he can do.

Like hitting a golf ball or over swinging in a captains choice tournament. It’s a fun thing, but it can also mess up your tempo and mechanics that were in a groove prior to trying to hammer one.

I understand that. Who knows if the announcers were just making that up or not. But if he was only good from about 56 in warmups, why put him out there for a 66 yarder?

The only way the pats get back in that game is with a defensive TD there. And if he hits it, it doesn't really increase your chances of winning. The game was basically over already. All it does is make national headlines because it's such a long kick.

The fact that they didn't try tells you he may not be able to hit that.

If he didn’t have the leg they wouldn’t have even considered him attempting it. Had he attempted it and missed, it wouldn’t have been a big deal from that distance. No team is going to be concerned about their kicker missing a 66 yard FG or whatever the exact distance was.

NO!!!!! And if there was a time for a penalty that was it right there but the Cowboys should have done a Hail Mary!

It would have been fun to see him try it. My only concern would have been having it blocked because he would have had to line drive it.

He has been my fantasy kicker from the start of the season. You do not go to ND on scholarship for soccer and get draft no.1 by the soccer league with a weak kicking leg and no accuracy.

Keep not using a FB in the redzone so I can keep getting 12-20 fantasy points form a kicker.

They didn't want to risk Aubrey kicking it so hard it broke the speed of sound and injured fans.
