The Cowboys may need to have a contingency plan if the team is unable to reach a new deal with Prescott. Rumors are swirling that one of these paths could be making a run at Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL draft.

Sanders could be an option for Dallas if the team once again underwhelms in the playoffs. And he brings Star power that our owner could hype.

It’s unknown if he will be a 1st round pick and or if will be highly sought after. And it’s expected his father Deion may preside over which team he goes to. If Dak is gone Dallas could be an attractive situation for Deion’s son.

Im not sold on Sanders. He has some dazzle but struggles against the better teams . This year in Big 12 will go a long way for his demand in 2025 draft. But at least it could be a plan our owners could pursue. Better than no plan at all.

If Cowboys truly let Dak go I could see them trying to be right on Lance before going Shedeur….maybe a Andy Dalton type signing.

I kind of doubt it. The team is unlikely to finish high enough in the draft order to make a run at him. They might be more likely to take their lumps in 2025 and grab the future QB in the 2026 draft. Should be very entertaining either way.

Remember this is about what our owner might be planning or thinking not us.

Does Sanders have that star quality Jethro could be looking for .

I could certainly see him being attractive for Jethro.

The Cowboys' last decade or so of drafting suggests the exact opposite.

Does Sanders have bigger star quality than Johnny Football did?

No. I expect a repeat of that fiasco with Jerry showing interest for PR but not drafting him.

True but during this time haven’t been without a Franchise QB.

This notion or rumor rest on Dak not being here next year. And the Cowboys without a Franchise QB.

I guess. But then any QB is going to be a flashy pick. They don't just go under the radar.

It's not as if Dallas is going to take Sanders over a prospect they think is better for the marketing value.

Back with Manziel we still had Romo. But if Dak walks then Cowboys will be without a Franchise QB for first time since before Romo.

Unless they are not in position to take that other QB.

Part of the speculation is Sanders could still be there when we draft or only need to move up marginally.

And if Sanders dad gets involved with mandating preferences it could influence where he goes .

NO. I'm sure the Cowboys have more than one QB contingency plan already.

No to Sanders and no to his dad also.

The Cowboys were smart to pass on Johnny Football and would be wise to do the same again.

Thank you!

Well yes if they have a QB1 and Sanders is QB2, then Sanders would theoretically be the pick lol.

But that's still predicated on selecting him because of his ability as a player, not his "celebrity."

Read the article on what has gone at UC since Deion got there. It isnt pretty. I'd be leery about Deion and his kids. I'd probably draft Travis Hunter though. Got star written all over him.

Dieon's CU program is a mess. He's a commentator and hype man not a football coach. ATT stadium might not be big enough to fit the egos of the Jones and Sanders families.

I truly beleive Jerry is at peace with the fact his tenure in Dallas is going to end with 3 rings and a HOF jacket. He's not going to allow any player to dictate terms or bully him in the time he has left, and we are seeing that with the Dak and CD contract negotiations.

Why do people keep ignoring the fact that Deion has adamantly stated that he doesn't want to coach in the NFL? lol

Johnny Football was a much Bigger Star in college than Sanders, better QB too. I actually was pissed when Jerry passed on Johnny, I thought it was the perfect setup for him!
