Could we see Free at TE and/or H back on Saturday?

I was just thinking on running downs that would be pretty sweet: or is it too late in the season to be experimenting like that? Man, I don't think we'd have too much trouble getting a yard or two if you put Free next to Colombo:bow:

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see all 3 of them on the field at the same time. They might even overload all 3 tackles to one side in short yardage plays.

They may as well try it. Nothing else has worked lately.

Interesting question.

Don't forget that Phillips has been an outstanding H-back when asked to do it.

The Cowboys did use an off-balance line before--maybe you see that a play or two with both Free and Colombo.

If he has decent hands, it's a possibility. If not, no.

I've been thinking the same thing ever since there was talk of Colombo coming back this week. We could have a seriously mean jumbo set with Free blocking from a TE position.

Maybe even get the Freak out on a pass pattern. :p:

I was just thinking on short yardage running situations to put him next to Colombo as a TE, then insert Phillips at Hback and run MB3 like a bat out of hell behind them: if he can't get a yard or two behind those beasts......he never will I guess.

here here chocolate lab: is that the official 'zone' nickname for Free? The FREAK: I like it....

I like the idea of overloading line....Perhaps take out WR, and have three guys in backfield -- Phillips, Free, and Choice. You have Davis and Colombo leading with Phillips and Free blasting the hole open wider or farther downfield for Choice.

.........NOW you're talking 'Disturbed'....punch them right in their loud mouths....

That was his nickname in college: Doug Freak. Because he was so athletic for a big guy.

I would like to see him from the FB position as a lead blocker on short yardage situations.

I've been wondering the same thing. Free was a TE in high school and as a true freshman in college. He converted to tackle after his redshirt season, but did start one game at TE in college. He probably has at least decent enough hands to catch something if he's wide open.

Why not on short yardage go four wideouts and spread the defense out. or force them to stop MB3 with a nickel defense

Short yardage maybe so

nothing else has seemed to work so why not?

Maybe getting a healthy Colombo back will be what works in these short yardage situations.
