Couple of factoids about GB

I hate the fact that defensive and offensive rankings are based on yards. Should be the amount of point a team scores and the amount of ponts a teams gives up.

That can be really misleading too. Look at the GB-TB game last week. Here's how TB scored:

1. 8-yard TD drive following interception return
2. Blocked punt returned for TD
3. Long drive ending in FG
4. 17-yard TD drive after long kickoff return
5. Long TD drive
6. Interception returned for TD

TB scored 28 of their points while gaining only 25 yards on the GB defense. The GB defense played much better than the 38 points against suggest. Better, even, than the 24 scored against the D suggest.

GB's special teams are truly awful, though - hopefully, we can take advantage of that.

Looking at the stats about GB from NFL.com

1. Offensive line play....32nd....dead last. Dallas ranks 10th.
2. Total Offense....7th. Dallas ranks 3rd.
3. Rushing Offense....10th. Dallas ranks 8th.
4. Passing Offense....9th. Dallas ranks 6th.
5. Total Defense....4th. Dallas ranks 20th.
6. Passing Defense...8th. Dallas ranks 20th.
7. Rushing Defense...9th. Dallas ranks 12th.

Amazing that they can have the worst o-line play yet not be any worse than a rank of 10 and that is in the passing offense. Just get pressure on him and he'll crumble.

They spank us overall on defense, but we have been lpaying better for the past month or so for the most part. The first couple of weeks really put us in a hole when we allowed nearly 900 yards.
Something is wrong with those numbers. This game is won in the trenches, so I think it far fetched to say they have the WORST offensive line play. Maybe they have just given up the most sacks. If you are 10th in rushing, your line isn't sucking at run blocking. If you 9th in passing offense, maybe you give up some sacks, but you are keeping you QB up enough to complete a bunch of passes for a bunch of yards.

The Cowboys rank higher than the Packers in the most important defensive statistic: points allowed.

Furthermore, the Packers' defensive rankings are bolstered by having played the Lions, Rams, Browns, and Bucs. The Rams had their second-most productive offensive outing against the Packers, and the Bucs gained only 279 yards but managed to score 38 points.
I would agree that points allowed is the most important statistic... but only if you could take into account any points that are scored by defensive/special teams touchdowns, and for starting field position off of turnovers by the offense and special teams returns. They don't do that, so points allowed is not a great stat to measure defensive rankings.

I hate the fact that defensive and offensive rankings are based on yards. Should be the amount of point a team scores and the amount of ponts a teams gives up. I Think the Cowboys D is a lot better than 20th overall and i think the Packers D is a lot worst than 4th overall. How many points their D is giving up is a better indication on how good their D is. IF you look at their wins, they have come against the Bears, Lions, Rams and Browns, hardly teams with near the offensive firepower the cowboys have and in those games their D played pretty well. But the Packers have some really bad losses where they gave up a lot of yards and points. 31 to the Bengals 30 and 38 to the Vikings and 38 to Tampa. I think the Cowboys will score at least 25 to 30 points. But, i could be absolutely wrong. lol

Wouldnt be a very accurate way to judge. That doesnt account for turnovers that put defenses in bad situation which leads to points. How about a great special teams return tackled at the opposing teams 20 yard line? If the defense shuts them down 3 and out the other team still can get 3 points. By your formula that's the defense's fault, but obviously it shouldn't be. Yards isnt perfect, but it is the only thing directly related to the performance of that unit
