Only two in history had "It." We need another.

Some were were high score producing QB's, but did not have "It."
Very few had "It."

Tom Landry stayed too long with Craig Morton, whose lack of quickness could not buy time to avoid pass rushers. Under Craig Morton, the Cowboys could not win the big one.

By along came Captain America, Roger the Dodger, the angel from heaven who took a 4-3 team in 1971 to 10 consecutive wins and the 1st Super Bowl win, demolishing the Dolphins. Roger had "it." He took two sets of players to 4 Super Bowls. He would have won in Jan 1979 if not for bad luck on three plays.

Tom Landry fell in love with the extremely smart, athletic QB, who played college baseball 2B, punted and was a QB at a top 10 NCAA team. He came to the NFL at 6'2" 180, maxed out at 193. He inherited great Cowboy teams with great offensive line, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Tony Hill and Billy Joe Dupree, But Danny did not have "It." He had the weakest throwing arm of any Cowboy QB and could not take hits well, being under 200 pounds. Landry stayed with him too long and failed to find his replacement. Landry and the front office became dumb in in the 1980's, 1980-1987 drafts were the worst in Cowboy history.

It was only when the team bottomed out and had the first pick in the draft, did the Boys get a player with "It." Troy Aikman won 3 rings in 4 years and would have won a 4th if All-Universe ROT Erik Williams did not break a leg in a DUI crash. Troy played big in big games. He was heaven sent to long suffering Cowboy fans. Troy was the 2nd and last QB for Dallas with "It." Boy was Troy a joy.

Lots of players came and failed before Romo, who was not even drafted, as he ran a 5.2 40 and threw wildly, needing several years of coaching and learning before he could start. He put up great offensive numbers. Romo tried hard, but he did not quite have "It." He lacked foot speed to get the important yards that the modern QB's need in clutch moments, despite his amazing Houdini moves in short areas.

Then, the Cowboys kept looking for basement bargains at QB, not drafting Dak until a comp pick at end of 4th round. There were reasons Dak was not drafted higher. We now see those reasons. He inherited the NFL's best OL, perhaps the best in history, with Zeke running wild in his rookie year. Dak looked better than he really was. After 3 years with him, I knew he did not have "It." He did not have the special qualities to have the "It." He lacks those special QB mental instincts of excellence to take the team all the way. He is far from being a QB with "It."

So we need a Troy Aikman, who many characterize as a recipient of great parts around him. Many would say Romo & Dak would have rings on those teams, as they would have been "harnessed" from the dumb stuff hoisted on their shoulders to carry those teams or place them in harm's way.

As for the "it factor" correlating to draft selection......Tom Brady wasn't that guy in the beginning and the handling of him early tells you all you need to know. Game manager to game winner evolution. On the flip side, Dan Marino had the "it factor" on Day 1, but no ring in the end.

PS....Troy was great and deserves all the accolades and credit for those SB Teams as much as the rest of those players. The last QB that showed leadership and not afraid to get in someone's face.

Troy said Romo was a better QB than him. Was it just talking him up? Who knows? Trent Dilfer had a man crush on him and Sean Peyton wanted him on New Orleans (but he was denied by Parcells) before Brees.

He also spoke highly of Dak a few times. I wonder if that has changed now after three straight poor playoff performances (outside of the game against TB).

Troy also played his best ball in the playoffs. He elevated in the playoffs.

Romo and Dak didn’t/dont

Be careful using the “it” factor on this board. You can’t see “it” on a stat sheet. The Madden and fantasy football boy’s heads are gonna explode.

Troy Aikman had it for sure.

It was a great offensive line during the super bowl years, it was a great defense, it was a star wide receiver and running back.

The Dak fans always refer to Dak's leadership. Where was he and the rest of the core guys on the whole Sam Williams victory party? Aren't the seasoned core leadership guys supposed to keep the rest of the folks in line? Hell coaching aside that's how it generally works within any unit that plays as a team.

it's show me all those defenses with it name all the defenses do your work save this energy for some research on what a great offensive line a great run game and a great defense looks like on championship teams and then I'll show you a quarterback like Romo or Prescott that can win those games as well..

You all can keep doing this and I'm gonna spend all week shutting this down this fire about the quarterback it's ridiculous lot of these playoff games that we watched so far and that we've seen in the past they have better defenses and better talent their coaching staff made better game plans TROY was never asked to carry a team by himself he had Emmitt Smith a great offensive line and a great defense and some of the best coaches to ever play same thing with Roger Staubach I'm not sitting here listening that this is a quarterback problem!!!!!~

so why don't you show me that same energy do your research and show me how Dan Quinn's defense is or Mike Nolan's defenses or rod marinelli's defenses end the running backs the run game and the offensive lines you show me where Romo and Prescott had those on a consistent basis in the biggest games and how they all stepped up and it was the quarterback that lost the game show me the game where the team showed up with them and then they blew it just straight up blew it on their own!!!@!

Well apparently, Green Bay already has another one ready to go after Aaron Rodgers.

He was clearly talking him up. Troy can’t be trusted when talking football in public he’s said some crazy things. He does it to be nice.

Yeah, but did those other guys " command the huddle" like the our present quarterback does?

That's an Intangible that converts to championships .
