Enter two rookie tight ends who made quite the splash in the preseason. Fourth-round pick Jake Ferguson and UDFA Peyton Hendershot were both impressive enough to beat out veteran backup Sean McKeon for spots on the 53-man roster.

During the preseason, Hendershot proved to be a force with a total of six grabs for 52 yards and a touchdown against Seattle. Ferguson led the team in all three games with seven receptions on seven targets for 76 yards.

With Schultz potentially out, or at least likely having limited playing time, the two rookies are ready to seize their moment. The Wisconsin tight end said his mindset is always to be ready, whether Schultz is in the game or not:

I hope the 2 Rooks really play well.
This will allow us to save $$$ by not resigning Shultz to a big contract.
With his lack of blocking ability, he's just not worth it.

Well that would be a great plan even with a healthy Schultz to get Ferguson and Hendershot more involved.
So absolutely now this offense needs to start discovering some chemistry quickly and Rush needs to know who he can depend on.
Noah Brown looks like an early security blanket but when the defense starts coming up to defend that then CD should be the primary read.
Zeke and Pollard can both be relevant in this game.

Are these the guys Rush worked with on the second team?

Well some peeps that keep track need to chip in here and please post active 53 but absolutely we saw a little bit of that during
preseason.
We saw some 12 personnel last weekend with decent results and hope we can stay in that package longer in this game.

They are yes

Ferguson for sure. But McKeon and Hendershot played with Rush as well
These are the large body targets in the room, and I like that Noah already understand inside blocking scheme dynamics to a tee,,
He learned that from the dirty work at wr5.
We can start developing some inside plays for Pollard and Zeke that some good blockers like Noah extend RBs into the second level.
