It’s truly amazing how the Cowboys popularity is independent of their success or lack of it on the field.

Say what we will of how Jethro Jone$ runs Cowboys Football he has no equal on the business side of running a NFL franchise.

Cowboys are now worth 9.2 billion , 2 billion more than major markets in NY and LA with 2 teams each.

The fact the Cowboys haven’t won a divisional round or appeared in a championship game in 28 years hasn’t altered their popularity . Most popular franchises who fall from grace of success are impacted financially at the gates and revenue generated.

The Cowboys appear to continue being the most popular and #1 in Revenue regardless. It’s truly remarkable. And all of the credit must go to NFL HOFame Contributor Jone$. He’s in a league of his own when it comes to generating revenue.

And it’s not all about having the largest seating capacity stadium which is one of the greatest contributing factors. It’s about stadium sponsorships which he sued the NFL to own the rights to.

Here’s a photo shot of just their major sponsors which doesn’t include smaller ones like Papa Johns.

Our owner has maximized our Iconic brand beyond what Tex had ever envisioned . Tex told him on that famous flight down to Lakeway outside Austin to fire Tom when he complimented Tex on the brand he’d built . Tex told him that having success on the field was critical to building and maintaining that financial success and why they were struggling generating revenue with 3 consecutive losing seasons .

IMO this set the entire revolutionary revenue streams our new owner put in motion . First thing was to turn the team around into winning ways which he did with hiring Jimmy and let him build it . Then he set in motion all of the new revenue beginning with Network deal with Fox, establishing the NFL Network and his support of the Salary Cap.

Next up was suing the NFL for stadium rights and his final move which would set his franchise up for the rest of his life , a new stadium with the largest seating capacity and unlimited revenue generating streams .

What many fans aren’t aware is in 2009 when the new stadium opened Jethro also spearheaded the new Blackout rules from 72 hours to 24 hours before kickoffs allowing the franchises to buy the remaining seats and broker them out themselves , something that hasn’t been allowed before . In the past if local TV affiliates didn’t purchase the remaining seats the game would be blackout . Also a major factor in committing season ticket holders was mandating buy PSL agreements to purchase the rights for season tickets so they couldn't walk away.

This was a master plan. History is going to reflect well on how this owner spearheaded a revenue juggernaut . Not only for his team but as a result for all teams because the NFL bylaws wouldn’t allow him to go on his own which he tried to over turn the Equal TV Revenue sharing which has always been the benchmark for the Parity in competition and profitability for all franchises.

The NFL is currently the only professional league where all franchises are in the black every year . Our owner has proven Tex wrong . Continued success on the field isn’t imperative to drive the popularity and revenue .

Unfortunately Jone$ has also circumvented the ability of disgruntled fans to hold him accountable as they had in the past enabling him to continue his “ socks and jocks” management style despite the frustration from most fans over his football ways compared to the rest of he league.

It’s a great example of American Ingenuity at its best optimization of an iconic brand much like many top brands have developed into most popular in our American culture despite not being the best product.

This just shows why Jerry insisting on wearing the GM hat has backfired. All the time spent on those deals meant he wasn't doing his duties as a GM which requires full time dedication.

Not only that, but how many billions is missing from the value if the Cowboys had won a SB or two this century?

He has a greater priority than winning. He’s able to live out his life long dream of being a celebrity football guy without effecting or impacting his revenue.

He’s not interested in making or winning more if he’s not the face of his franchise. It’s why he ran Jimmy off.

He brilliantly figured out how to make it without winning .

Which is why the Cowboys are over hyped, as you said earlier. One goes with the other, especially coming off two 12-win seasons.

Jerry's football ops are frustrating at times but I'll never question his business acumen.

They have improved a 13 win team. Are they over hyped?

Which to me says Jerry is winning the SB for him every year.....whereas we fans are stuck in Groundhog Day... Kudos for the Jones clan for becoming filthy rich, too bad Jerry can't take it with him. When he kicks the bucket, it won't be how much money did he make? It will be did he ever win a real SB "his way"? The answer is NO.

Yes, yes they are. It's gonna be a struggle with new coaches, players, scheme, schedule, so I would not count on past seasons to try and project what this coming season will be. Don't know how old you are but I bet your old enough to see the it's all fluff, so far and has been for times.

I would only question the motives.

Not yet anyway. But thats never really been the driving force . Sure he wants to win badly but only his way. And the revenue juggernaut was so he could maintain his control without financial fallout.

Yes..... we are up to our chins in partnerships, money, and Wild Card Game appearances.

Life is good.
Best team in decades. Awesome time to be a fan, if you like good football. You can be a negative smart *** if you want. I like having a good contending team.

It speaks of Jerry Jones' marketing genius that the Cowboys remain so relevant and popular.

But they last won a Super Bowl when I was a senior in high school. I am now 45. A title drought this long makes sense if you are, say, a Browns or Lions or Cardinals fan. Cowboys fans were raised to expect a bit more.
