Cowboys biggest needs for next year

In no particular order:

Running Back - Pollard is in the last year of his contract, and Zeke has been fading for a while. A new fresh top RB prospect needs to be added to the team.

Offensive Line - both Center and Left Guard are issues. But if Tyron Smith comes back, you can shift Tyler Smith to Left Guard. But a more powerful center is needed to open holes in the run game.

Tight End - paying Dalton Schultz a top tier contract for middle level performance is not a good use of resources. The Cowboys are going to need those resources to sign Defensive players, such as Diggs and Wilson. So drafting a new starting Tight End is a need. Ferguson and/or Hendershot are serviceable journeyman type players, but a Star Tight End could be an asset.

Defensive Tackle - unless run defense improves dramatically, the Cowboys still need to improve their interior line defense.

Personally I’m not sure why were even talking about next season.

Because 4 weeks of play is enough to expose the areas of weakness on the team. Also, because player acquisition is a year round process, and identifying team weaknesses now helps focus your scouting of players not yet on the team - both in college and on other NFL teams.

As a football fan in general, watching other games with eyes focused on finding players to help improve the Cowboys makes the season more intriguing, and therefore more enjoyable.

Tight end is not in the area of weakness for this team it’s actually a strong suit. You should definitely put this on a different zone

I’m positive William McClay already knows who he wants for next year’s draft. And he’s already watching. College ranks

Agree with all but TE.
We have 2 great prospects on the team right now.
I would trade Shultz and give the 2 Rooks playing time to give them experience.

The run game was tearing it up going left behind Farniok and Tyler Smith for the first 3 games, but Philbin listened to the masses and benched Farniok for alternating play in McGovern and Peters. End result was a total disaster in the run game this past Sunday, especially trying to run left.

Put Farniok back out at Left Guard.

Fire Philbin and get a better/smarter Oline coach.

It wont be if Hendershot and Ball start a Girlfriend Fight Club. Or so other domestic violence enthusiast thing

THE BIGGEST need for next year is starting QB

PERIOD

I would try to flip Schultz for a pick as well. The Cowboys thought enough of him to franchise him. If he’s THAT guy he’s worth a 3rd round pick. My guess would be more like a 4th or a 5th.

If Shultz turns out to be worth a higher pick than that you make that trade yesterday.

Don’t need rb early or te. Both our rb on practice squad are better than zeke.

Unless the injured lb or Cox can play we need speed at lb and we need ol with big fat dl guy.

It's the same every year:

Owner
GM

Those are the two missing pieces.

Mlb

Ndamukong Suh could be had to help in the middle now. I don’t believe he has signed with anyone-has he?

DT is the most important in my opinion. We have a great group of safeties, so that is set.

All true and discussed by many of us this past off-season.

RB - Yup most know Zeke aint what he once was, and this is Pollards last year of contract.

OL - we knew we need to upgrade center and guard right off the bat and that we needed to draft Tyron's replacement cause he's breaking down.

TE - Again I believe most of us didn't want to sign Schultz to a long term contract - pretty good pass catching TE but nothing special.

DT - been a need for many years now, especially a big NT but I almost stop wishing for one cause I know it aint happening anytime soon.

I would add MLB maybe but we have to see if Clark can come back healthy.

To make this D elite, you must be "strong up the middle" and where are we weak...
