But while the team seems almost desperate to make this deal happen, it shouldn’t be out of fear or doubts about existing talent. There’s good reason to think that this offense can contend as currently constituted.

The starting WR duo of CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup is still quite solid. We’ve watched Lamb overcome some early-season struggles to look more like the true number one again. Gallup, who only just returned from his own 2021 ACL tear in Week 4, should get closer to form as the season continues. Last week’s bye hopefully gave Gallup a boost toward that end.

Expected to arrive soon is veteran James Washington, who’s been out so far from a preseason foot injury but could be debuting in the next few weeks. He was signed this past March to round out the top three at WR and could be an x-factor going forward.

Spotrac has his current val at 13.1m per year. IF this is close to being correct, I can see Stephen offering him a long-term with protections against injuries. He just said let's roll up our sleeves and see if we can this done. Who wanna bet he already knows what it will take but probably see if he can bring OBJ price down a little.

You don't time waste time trying to something done unless you feel pretty good about your chances.

I brought his market value up in another thread and people said that had to be wrong since he played for like 5M last year. But I think that's what he's shooting for, somewhere between 13-15M. I don't think he's going to get that from the Cowboys. Might as well have just kept Cooper and restructured his deal.

Everything he's asking now, top dollar, wants a multi year deal, it all points to wanting one last big payday. He knows the end is near. And with a guy coming off two ACLs, I'd pass giving him that.

I respect OBJ's skills and will to win. However OBJ wanting 20 million and likely playing some in December and perhaps a few games in the post season (if we go deep) is grand larceny and there is no guarantee he won't get injured again. It would be like the Indians giving Manhattan Island for shiny beads all over again.

Work with the group of receivers the Cowboys have...they seem more than talented enough to get the job done. Give'em time to mature together.

Go Cowboys!

It comes down to a couple questions. How much of the cap do we want to use for WRs? If we sign OBJ for multiple years, are we going to let Lamb walk after his rookie deal is up?

This is just the showman in Jerry, sell tickets and make the cowboys the most watched, he has already said it reminds him of the Prime Time situation, if we could get the same value that Deion brought us I would be ok with the two year deal they will likely make if he comes here.
