What would be considered a big jump and how realistic is it?

It’s the new mantra this season, “step up”. I’m sure some will, but most of them won’t. They are relying on them as they have nothing else.
Not relying on them , I know that's the thing to say around here but we're talking about the number 3 rotation at wide receiver which is like maybe going to be the fifth option for our targets, there's not going to be a lot of opportunities but I'll take Turpin just start in the slot at #3 and then let these other guys prove in camp take snaps away from him,

but I would use him more but we have CD lamb who by the way was like 2 receivers last year I mean 1700 yards some of those catches will go to cook this year so that's two very good targets and then Ferguson and then whenever they do out of the backfield and again we get to #3 wide receiver it is not a critical position yeah we have a rash of injuries I hate to break it to you but if a team loses jamar chase or Justin Jefferson or A.J. Brown they are not ready to just step up because he's missing that's a big hit to any team you have to just scramble and change your approach to the play calls..

But anyway, I get what you're saying,

but we're talking about the number three wide receiver here it's not that big a deal I want to get the run game fixed first and I think with the offensive line if it gels and I realize we're expecting it but I believe we are not worse than last year...

I think we're about the same I don't think there's a drop off to whoever we use that center from Tyler he was not great the man was just a very steady average center he wasn't bad but he wasn't worth keeping and he's not going to be hard to replace we never could depend on Tyron Smith he was an injury away from missing 5 to 10 games or the whole season so we're moving to some young guys we have a lot that can work out through training camp and preseason to who this rotation is and the running back by committee but if they were used properly last year this run game would not have looked that bad that's on the coaches not on the players they have to choose from like this place likes to believe they literally used the running backs wrong the situational football when they brought who in was completely wrong and yeah the offensive line wasn't great but Tony should have never been used the way he was used Rico should have been used in the old zeke position and then Tony brought in like his normal rotation and then found a way to utilize the fullback deuce Vaughn and being under center more like I'm just saying like it's less about sometimes the players than it is the scheme and I don't think we called plays and ran a scheme that was beneficial to our run game last year....

Can also hope Cooks has a better year too.
Cooks is what he is at this point. The point of the thread is we have two young WRs who are maturing and potentially become big contributors this season. Let's not bury the lead here.

I think he will. Cooks still has it. His lack of production earlier in the season was more schematic than anything else.

Once they started trying to get him involved more, he looked really good.

I don't get why we have guys and don't use them

There will be one or two players that perform better in 2024 than currently expected to.

Tolbert is my pick to be that guy.

I mean, if stats are your thing, that is. I expect a 60 catch season and a handful of scores.

I think his best skills just didn't align with the Cowboys needs...or at least what they anticipated needing last year to start the season. Cooks can run routes at different levels, and we saw that the back half of the year, but Cooks was pretty much brought in to bring a vertical threat to the offense. He's got the jets to do so, but he's a create separation with his speed type of guy. Defenses play a lot of shell coverage against the Cowboys, plus while Dak has been a great deep ball guy throughout his career he's been more of a exploit the matchup type of guy. Dak is great at finding the mismatch and getting the ball to guys like a prime Gallup who would go up and get those contested balls. He's just been more of a high arch passer on his deep balls than a true cannon of an arm launching it 40 yards down field to hit the guy in stride type. Once they stopped running Cooks north and south and gave him more crossing routes he started to find holes in those zones on those intermediate routes, which does play to the strengths of Dak.

Don't really have a choice but to expect a big jump. Limited options otherwise.

Frankly, I think we may get more contributions from Turpin than either of them.

I really would look into a guy like Hunter Renfrow. Super cheap, reliable and helps get Tolbert/Brooks ready.

I just hate the throw it at a wall and hope it sticks.

It's interesting to me that Renfrow is still out there. Does anyone know why?

I don't see either being a difference maker, but they are cheap so we have that going for us.

Good news, injuries aside, they just need one of them to be competent when they go 3 wide.
