Could Cowboys trade Dante Fowler or Neville Gallimore?

More specifically, Archer pegged Dante Fowler Jr. and Neville Gallimore as players who could become trade chips to "fill gaps or gain future picks."

Archer has Fowler and Gallimore making the team in his 53-man roster projection. Of course, that means very little in the grand scheme. Ultimately, whether the Cowboys float Fowler and, or Gallimore in trade talks hinges on the health of the defensive line coming out of training camp.

Injuries are unfortunately a major part of camp. Though camp is days old for some teams, myriad serious injuries have been confirmed.

Any trade would create more reps for second-year man Sam Williams, whom many expect to breakout this season. Even if Fowler was dealt, Dan Quinn would still have a full stable at his disposal, including Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Williams, Dorance Armstrong and the versatile Chauncey Golston.

The team isn't as deep in the trenches, but Gallimore's future has been a major talking point this offseason after he was a healthy scratch against the Buccaneers in the playoffs. Even before the postseason, Gallimore had been leapfrogged in the pecking order by Golston and Carlos Watkins.

I’m not sure either is a lock to make the roster so, sure…

I think particularly Fowler has value. Certainly a guy who can help a team as a nickel rotation pass rusher. For us he is at best #5 on the DE depth chart and he doesn’t play special teams, so this is why IMO his roster spot isn’t guaranteed. If any young kids step up at all and also play STs, i wouldn’t be surprised to see him moved for a draft pick or cut. Also if the team feels like I do that Fehoko on run downs is a DE and not a DT, I think that really makes Fowler a luxury and not a need.

You don’t trade Fowler. IMO he is the most consistent pass rusher outside of Parsons.

I can’t find the stat, but he wins nearly every pass rush attempt. He’s cheap depth
Agree........role player for sure but more valuable to us than the 6th or 7th-round pick we may get.

I tend to agree about Gallimore but Fowler not so much. They just resigned him in March........$3M ( $1M signing bonus and $1M guaranteed ) You don't do that for a player you intend to trade......
JMO but signing him was insurance in case of injury. If there is one or two young bucks who steps up Fowler will be cut.

I agree, especially in 3rd down situations where we know they are passing. Can never have enough good pass rushers.

Not a fan of trading him unless someone offered a 3-4th round pick which would not happen

Exactly this.

This team seems very deep at all positions with depth. Guys like Overshown, Scott, Bell, Izzy etc.

Keep the depth. Injuries happen.

Gallimore on the other hand IMO is good as gone.

I jusst do not think they have the DT depth to trade Gallimore. I am hoping he shows something this season compared to last.

He’s one of those on the bubble / holy crap we could’ve used him … if an injury occurs.

I believe he makes the 53. There isn’t much depth behind Osa and Golston / Fehoko are more tweener types of players.

Would you really trade 2M for a 7th or conditional 6th? That is what his trade value is after all.
It’s not just 2m$ for a conditional draft pick, it’s 2m$ for a better 2023 roster and a younger player you can stash who will have a bigger impact on the future of the franchise (in the hypothetical you’re cutting/trading Fowler because he wouldn’t make the final 53)

Yeah I mean I guess if he's on the verge of getting cut but even if he has underperformed in a make or break year seems he'd have more value here than some guys like Bohanna or Fehoko.

I don’t see Fowler being expendable. He provides much needed depth. Gallimore is getting cut unless there’s an injury at DT.
