Unless he’s hurt, there’s NO excuse for this!I hope someone asks Zimmer and Mike about this.

Surely noticed #35 out there a lot than Overshown, if he was hurt then that's what happens in Dallas, player has a good game, the next game somehow they have an injury

Can anyone explain why Damone Clark is still getting as much play as he is.

Is that the real question or is why did overshone all but being took on a snap count ? Were they protecting overshown maybe they added size 'cause they thought they needed it but I'm thinking when you got a guy like tomorrow that can run outside that breakaway speed still at times why would you not use overshone? I'm pretty sure somewhere in there Mike Zimmer was trying to protect the ACL you know move him along slower to build up his snap counts maybe they thought that he played a little too much game one I don't know but I wouldn't worry about Damon Clark there were a lot of guys in there missing tackles and being slightly slow to get to the spot... Way too much blame to be going around talking about one phase or any one player this whole defense sucked from top to bottom

Not that Clark is any better, but Overshown was getting blown off the ball on every run play he was in on. Hes not built for box run defense
only a second game as a pro coming off an ACL played a lot better than you give him credit for because you remember guys like steel and gallop didn't seem to ever get back right after their acls not two games back I mean overstones played really well for the circumstances IMHO

I mean he literally is new to the pro sports never played last year he's truly a red shirt rookie if there is such a term I mean I watch college football's red shirt freshman coming up in ACL and had a really good game one and not a single player did their job on defense and you wanna signal out him maybe coming up to the San Francisco game he will be better I wouldn't call him a Shanahan killer or whatever people are saying but we were all getting blown off the ball there wasn't a single player on defense that played well yesterday including the play caller.. so i really wouldn't have mattered...

This is a direct reflection upon defenses called in the specific game they were called in. Their defenses this game, were forced upon them.

Overshown the Shanahan stopper

Like it would've mattered yesterday if he played 50 snaps other than make fans feel better
Not sure it would’ve mattered but if something like this happened who knows what other coaching screw ups happen. Probably a lot more.

You're sure man. Lol cmon. That's like Ruben patterson being a kobe stopper. It's not a one man job to stop Shanahan offense. It's a team effort. All 11 defenders have to be tough. The architect of the system said its premise is they want to block safeties and make corners tackle. Why do you think soft Diggs called it an annoying system? Lol asking him to be tough? Noooooo

That’s not what I’m saying though. What I’m saying is if the coach is playing one of his most explosive players on defense for 17 snaps….the least of any other player in that unit….there were probably far more screw ups then that.

I haven't done a full rewatch but the 1st half wasn't very good for Overshown. It's clear that he is a liability in the run game at this point, and if he doesn't get better quick he is going to be a rotational backer or have to transition to S. The physical skills are obviously there and absolutely show up in the pass game both in coverage and attacking the QB, but after just a few plays its not shocking to me at all that Zim prefers to get Clark on the field in 2WR sets.

Q1 14:21 - Bad read, takes the RB, not the ball carrier - to be fair this could be a coaching issue giving him a bad read. He looks like he was mirroring the RB all the way when he really should have been doing a triangle read from the Y to the weak side G and those guys up front would have taken him right to the ball.
Q2 7:43 - Good initial read, starts to fill but gets washed out without even being blocked. He takes a bad angle to the ball carrier. This is a concerning play to me because it looks like a guy who doesnt like fighting through traffic and doesnt have a good feel for maneuvering at this point. Probably why they prefer Clark on 2 receiver sets
Q2 7:03 - Good read, but gets taken out of the play by a man he had a step on. Its early but I'm seeing some serious signs of him being a liability against the run
Q2 6:21 - Pass play, in zone coverage, no one to cover
Q2 6:16 - Pass play, sets up in the A gap, drops out to cover, tough match up LB v WR but Olave beats him on a simple drag route. Overshown seems slow to recognize the receiver in his area.
Q2 5:59 - Makes the tackle on the other side of the field. Good read, failure by NO as the never got off the double team on OSA to block Overshown or it could have been a bigger gain.
Q2 5:27 - Pass play, excellent play by Overshown. Good discipline on the play action and he read the FB to perfection to make the tackle for no gain. This is an area Overshown seems to really thrive.
Q2 4:47 - pitch play to the strong side, good read, excellent speed to get to the other side of the field, but was easily blocked
Q2 2:54 - Ran right at Overshown and he got obliterated by the G giving up the TD. Issues all around with this play starting with Micah getting too wide and your DTs getting blown off the ball, but Overshown got embarrassed on this play. Kamara had a wide open hole to run through with two lead blockers who didnt even have to touch anyone for 8 yards past the LOS.
