It actually was not that hard. I went to Home Depot and bought the Official paint colors, a 1 " and 2" roll of blue painter's tape, rolers, brushes, and trim brushes.

Paint the walls with a base white primer to begin. The tape is cheap, so I started with the 1" roll and started at the ceiling, then taped off a star on the wall just like you would draw it on a piece of paper. I cut out the middle pieces of tape with a razor blade. I then painted the gray background. all around the garage.

Once the gray was dry, I left the original outline of the star so the white would show through, then added a 2" border around the star and painted with blue. Once it was all dry, I removed the tape to reveal the star.

Using the lines from the star, I used the 1" tape on the gray wall to create the gray "interior" line that aligns with the white of the star. I used the 2" tape for the small blue outline. I measured, then added the !" and 2" tape at the bottom to complete the banner.

I used one strip of 1" and one of 2" to outline the star from the banner, then painted the blue.

Let dry, peel tape, and done. I started on Friday night Father's day weekend, two years ago, and finished on Sunday night. So, two full days of work to prime, paint, and finish.

BTW - the Star is trial and error to get it "just" right. But once you do, it goes pretty smooth from there.

I PMed this to SDogo, but an easy way to get images like that onto a wall is to print onto a clear plastic sheet, then put it on an overhead projector and shoot it onto the wall. Take a pencil and a straight edge and get your image on the wall, then tape and trim the tape.

You can do some pretty complex images like that believe it or not.

I know people that have used that method, but I don't have access to a projector. I taped all of that off by had without using a pattern. It's really not too difficult, it just takes a few tries to get the lines of the star right.

My church was throwing 2 of them away so I asked if I could have one of them. I've made some decent money now and then with it.
