It has been one of the greatest rivalries in the NFL for over 50 years - Cowboys-Niners. The two teams will meet for the 41st time Sunday in SF. The niners lead the all-time series vs the Cowboys 20-19-1.

Here are some comparisons of the two teams all time matchups:
  • The niners lead the regular season matchups 16-14-1.
  • The Cowboys lead the niners in the all-time playoff record 5-4, but the niners have won the last 3 playoff matchups.
  • Like Dallas, SF has won 5 SBs in their 8 appearances.
  • Sadly, the niners have passed the Cowboys in all time playoff wins 39-25 compared to Dallas 35-31 playoff record.
  • The niners playoff record since 2000 is 14-9, including a whopping 7 conference championship games and 3 SBs. The Cowboys are 4-10 in the playoffs in that same time period with zero conference championship appearances.
The matchup Sunday will feature two of the most banged up teams in the league. The niners come in 3-4, losers of two of their last three and have been very inconsistent on both sides of the ball. QB Brock Purdy is lately looking like an average QB at best with 7 interceptions, one more than Dak. Without Christian McAffrey as a weapon, Purdy has been a shell of what he’s been the last two years.

The niners may be the only team that is as banged up as we are, missing 4 (and maybe 5) starters on offense and 4 on defense. This game could be called “The Hospital Bowl”.

After watching the Cowboys the last 6 games, it’s very hard to see this team be able to grind out a win against a team as talented as SF playing at home and at 3-4 desperate for a win to stay relevant for a playoff spot.

But having said that, the niners are not what they have been the last few years, and the NFL is very unpredictable. So I expect a closer game than what we would normally expect. Cant see the Cowboys winning, but somehow I think it will be a relatively close game. Anything is possible.

Despite the history of the teams, I feel confident that if we hold Jordan Mason to under 175 yards rushing we have a decent chance of staying within two scores of them.

Just another message of positivity for today.
I would set 175 yards for Mason as the over/under, lol.

Yea, we probably play a tougher game but come up short. Despite 9ers struggles can’t see them dropping to 3-5.

Looking ahead I like our chances better next week in Atlanta trying to get back to .500

Even in their banged up states both these teams are capable of playing much better than they have been. The winner of this game will be the one who figures it out this weekend. I have zero feel for which one that might be.
