The Cowboys’ special teams and offense out the defense in bad positions yesterday. The Texans O had three short fields. Starting positions after the three turnovers were the Cowboys 24 yard line, the Cowboys 28 yard line, and the Cowboys 4 yard line. Take away those turnovers, and the Texans kicked three long field goals of 47, 50 and 54 yards.

This has been happening a lot, yesterday was just the most egregious example. I seriously wonder if Dallas' aggressiveness on offense and special teams is doing more damage than good. Dallas has a good enough team that playing it straight is going to work for them most of the time.

And yeah, people will ask "How do you give up 23 to the Texans and consider yourself a good defense?!?!" Well, most of those points were practically handed to them.

I don't have time to do it but I would love to see the results and statistics for drives that started on the Cowboys 35 or closer versus back. The defense has given up a few drives of long distance but not many.

This has been happening for 7 years. Dak led Dallas teams start slow.
Remember the good ole days when Troy-led Dallas would opt to receive the ball and score on the opening drive automatically?

The ST muff had nothing to do with aggressiveness, Turpin was trying to fair catch the ball. Dak's first int was tipped, and I'm not positive, but I think the other two were just bad throws.

You talking about the 1994 championship game in San Francisco? I remember a turnover on our first possession.

Dallas rarely double teams the gunners and instead packs the middle for punt defense, frequently going for a block. That's being aggressive in my opinion. Turpin was dodging a gunner when he muffed it. Of course, he should be able to do that but Dallas' scheme regularly puts the punt returner under the gun of the gunners. Eventually that's going to lead to a mistake and it just did.

He wasn't dodging anyone. He misjudged where the ball was coming down (maybe it curved) and turned to catch it, and it bounced out of his arms. I agree the blocking has been bad, which is why he fair catches so many of them. I'm not sure if they're being aggressive or trying to prevent a fake kick.
