One positive is we are not having all the stupid penalties the last three games. It was getting to the point that you expected a false start or holding call on each new drive.

Today we had 4 penalties for 36 yards. The eagles had 2 for 10 yards not sure why we don't get the holding calls on defense. Last week we had 4 for 37 yards against the Jags and the week before against the Texans we had 3 for 10 yards so that is a positive.

But nobody talks about it because it's not negative. People on this board were all over it when we were piling up penalties. Now that they fixed it, crickets.

Most needed to see the penalties go down for a couple of games before commenting. That's why we've had the crickets, as you say.

I guess McCarthy getting all over them in practice to end these silly penalties had a positive effect. There are some who laughed at him being a head coach and getting results.

It’s only a penalty if there is a flag, reduction of post snap penalties could simply be refs not throwing the flag

I recall more than a few ref conspiracy threads, too. Those have dried up as well.

A three game streak of low penalties is a great way to begin a trend.

However, isn't this the 2nd or 3rd time in the past two seasons that the problem had been resolved?

The longevity of this streak will continue to be an issue until they demonstrate that this trend will continue beyond these past three weeks well into next month.

So are the opposing team’s penalties. Basically refs are content to let the Cowboys and their opponents play. This can be good or bad.

Very encouraging and just in time for the playoffs.
Now let's work on clock management

Their opponents are not getting flagged much either. I think the refs are holding their flags for some reason. Maybe it's because there is such much complaining about bad calls. But there were some obvious penalties in the game that the refs let go. TY Hilton was clearly hit before the ball arrived on the 52 yard bomb. There was no flag on that play.

I saw a few holding calls by both teams not get flagged. One play, a good run up the middle to get the Eagles inside the 5 yard line, Barr was clearly held by the TE at the point of attack.

btw, I have seen some chatter about how the holding on TY Hilton for a crucial first down was a phantom call. But the replay clearly showed Slay disrupted his pass route and held him up. That was clearly illegal contact.

I thought the penalty on Wright during the Turpin long kick off run back should not have been called. Wright was on the left side of the field and Turpin cut back to the right side before the hold. Usually they don;t call holding unless it is involved in the play.

Refs decide how to control the flow, trust me in the payoffs somehow, we will have 10 just suddenly pop up when its convenient.

I was skeptical that McCarthy could do it but I have to give him props he saw a problem on the team and fixed it.
