Can you imagine if speedy Tony Pollard were used like this (see links above) in the pass game ?

zeke 2016 was utterly deadly in quick RB screens when he had his game breaking speed.

- One of my biggest pet peeve with Kellen Moore has been the lack of creativity with our RBs
in the pass game.

- Kellen does not care for the RB screen game. He either is very impatience with it, is not adept with
how to develop and use it.
- He does not care for OL guys pulling it out for the screens, yet we see it
used frequently around the NFL .

Thus far we've seen only the curl pass to RBs in the flat.

Kellen is the reason why we are still utilizing Pollard's skill set.
And for whatever reason McCarthy is apparently not allowed to input his GB designs for
RB.

I think KM is missing an opportunity with a player like Pollard in the passing game...isolating him on LBs is easy money KM isn't taking.

I do like the implementation of draw plays to Pollard. Now if we can get some screens, option routes, wheel routes and slants out wide vs LBs that would unlock TP even more and give #4 more higher % passes.

I don't like the idea of Zeke in the passing as much, and actually prefer a quicker RB in space.

We are among the league’s worst at RB receptions and yardage. The best teams move the ball in as many ways as possible to keep defenses from being able to focus on one or two areas. We have virtually zero qb runs and very little to no usage of RBs out of the backfield.

They tried it but blocking has often failed.
- Either blockers release a pass rusher too early or blockers get a penalty and the play is called back.

They really tried to make it work at one point in the past with Pollard. I think it was 2020. Pollard had some big gains including a long run after catch for a TD that were called back due to a penalty. The penalty was most often on La'el.

Cowboys fans have been complaining about the lack of screen passes every year since Tony Dorsett departed...

you are focusing on the trees and missing the forest

there is a reason we have never had a good screen game
There is a reason our starting number 1 WR and QB are not on the same page in week 10
There is a reason our defense can’t play with discipline and gap control

the team lacks discipline

that’s been the case for years and years

the reason is the Jones culture and mediocre coaches with no backbone who are willing to give up authority for money

it’s not going to change

Been saying this for 2 years now.

Checkdowns to our RBs is almost non-existent and what’s bad is I see it open a lot.
What is bad is that Nick Eatman on Cowboys Break thinks the Cowboys will just renegotiate Zeke’s contract and let Pollard go in free agency.

Was saying this before. A quick toss or pitch play and run off tackle. And a designed screen to get them the ball. Get Elliot the ball and one on one with a defender he can run them over.

Zeke should retire in all honesty. He’s about done as anything above average and will never make this kind of money again so it’s not worth what he will put his body through with the money he’s already earned.

You are so right. Malik Davis runs the ball with more burst then Zeke. Unless he totally falls of a cliff (possibly), I don’t know how Jerry will let him go.

We need to stop thinking of Moore as some offensive genius. He’s not. He’s proven that over time, be it his inconsistent play calling, inability to get the ball to our receivers, et cetera.

Jerry so desperately wanted one of those young innovative game callers and we shoehorned Kellen into that role.

It has been nominal, and most here were expecting Pollard to be implemented more into the passing game during the offseason, but we still have a total bone head at OC
that doesn't recognize the playmakers on this offense, and continues to neglect putting them in position to succeed.

How do we NOT have a play that resembles something like Pollard and Zeke in the backfield, with a screen to Pollard, Zeke and OL blocking on the move?

Clearly Im no XO dude, but I’ve been watching forever and a play like that figures to work well.

Or really anything getting the ball to either in space. Yeah Zeke isn’t a stud anymore, but still a load to bring down with a head of steam. Wanna “wear down” a defense? Make them defend the idea of either of those dudes as a pass game threat.

Im not sure how limited play books need to be, and what can or can’t be added during a season, but why not have another something for a DC to prepare for at the very least.

Just still goes back to it seems they want to base everything on Daks arm. It’s just wrong. Use the guy correctly and the results will show. They refuse.

I still want us to run the old San Francisco swing run pass play to our RB's. Remember how Joe Montana used to throw the ball to running back in the flat, but there was a running play. I want us to call those plays, 7 routes and more go routes. Just to make the defense defend the whole field.

Right now it's mostly post and crossers to Lamb and slants and outs to Gallup. Every now and then Moore will throw in a dig route, but he's still too predictable.

100%

We ran something like that to Pollard in the Bears game where we were backed up in the endzone for a nice gain.
