Biggest steal of the entire NFL draft! Good article on Carson.

When Wake Forest cornerback Caelen Carson fell to the Cowboys in the fifth round, the team pounced. A top-100 player on multiple draft boards, Carson represented high value on Day 3 of the draft. With Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland and Jourdan Lewis already on the roster, the Cowboys didn’t have pressing needs at the CB position. But value was value, and the Cowboys know they rarely come to regret drafting good players, so they turned the card in.

To summarize Ben Larimore’s player profile for Cowboys Wire, Carson is just a darn good CB prospect. He possesses solid athletic traits, good fundamentals, useful versality and decent size and physicality. He was simply a great pick up for Dallas at that stage in the draft. And thus far in training camp, Carson has only surpassed expectations.

He’s shown a sense of polish and calm uncommon for a Day 3 rookie. He’s frequently made plays on the ball and even in times of defeat he’s been in good position. His understanding of the job makes him an immediate option in Mike Zimmer’s demanding defense. But considering the logjam ahead of him at CB, how much can be expected of the rookie?

Let's see how he plays in a few NFL regular season games before anointing him as the steal of the draft.

I cannot give an impartial assessment.
Rooting for him more than most.

So I suppose you’d prefer him saying “Biggest bust of the entire NFL Draft”? I’m sure you’d get onboard with that.
That is absolutely not what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is, let the young man play a few games in the regular season before we begin assessing his talent level.

Training camp reps and in game reps are totally different.

Let me make myself perfectly clear, I hope he does end up being the biggest steal of the draft.

Just an awesome draft pick again. They continue to hit on defensive backs. Their secondary is awesome.
