It’s funny though as young as these guys are I expect them to look up to guys Kittles age not Barry. Vaughn must be a student of the game.

Another thing is Kittle is the blueprint for Schoon….both tight ends….both drafted at an older age…..similar skill sets…

It's interesting Barry Sanders retired 3 years before Vaughn was born. I just can't imagine idolizing a player that came before I was even interested in a sport or didn't have a chance to grow up watching them. Certainly there's players you hear about before your time and you learn to respect them but to idolize them they would probably have to have a direct impact on my life as a coach or mentor.

I agree. But his dad is a scout who watches plenty of tape. Being the son of a coach or a scout I guess maybe that's how such a young guy can look up to a guy like that. I dont' even know who guys his age would look up to....seems like even Tomlinson might be too old for them.

I would imagine that when Deuce was younger and worried about being short, his Dad showed him one of the best runners of all time who was only 2 inches taller than Vaughn. He probably told Deuce to watch how Sanders played and incorporate some of his stuff into his game.

That is how I can envision a guy as young as Vaughn having Sanders as his idol. It is what I would have probably done if I were his father.

Probably Adrian Peterson. Then guys like Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch also have staying power. There were some other guys that had a few great seasons like Chris Johnson, MJD, Steven Jackson, Lesean Mccoy that may also be guys that get mentioned.

But very true you do pickup some interests your family.

Way way off topic. But I got to see Barry Sanders play in high school a couple times. He grew up in my city and I have always been a huge high school football fan. His senior year everyone was talking about him big time so I went to see him. I always joked with my dad that Barry was the best kid from his school ever because he went to the same high school as my dad.

Yeah its tough for me to even think of who'd these guys would look up to because the shelf life of the RB is so short. Hell man some of these guys might've looked up to Zeke lol.

He probably gravitated to him because of his size. His dad, or even he could have idolized Barry because he too was a smaller runner. Nothing bad in that.
