Having watched a couple of preseason games with announcers from other teams for one half, I have to say I am quite impressed with the Cowboys crew.

Sham and Laufenberg actually seem to know whats going on, unlike Houston and Arizona's announcers and call a pretty good game.

I was also pretty impressed with Spanola. For a print journalist, he handles himself well in the TV booth and makes some pretty astute observations from time to time.

I am sure a lot of you get these guys all the time, but living far from Dallas, I always get national announcers. What do those of you that see these guys on a regular basis think?

You're right, and I think the best of all of them is the play-by-play guy, Bill Jones. For someone you've never heard of, he's really very good. I suspect he does college games for someone, probably Fox Southwest.

And I actually think Spags is all right, too. Babe is the one that lately has started to wear on me. The radio broadcast seemed miles better to me this week with Moose working with Sham instead of Laufenberg.

Yeah, Babe is really not doing good. When Mickey spots penalties and plays before Babe, you got to think, what the heck is Babe there for?

The Jones/Babe combo wasn't too bad, but when Spags was in there it was like listening to a high school announcing team. One thing I have noticed from the NFL network broadcasts from other games is that the other teams tend to bring in seasoned network annoncers to be part of their preseason crew. Not necessary, but I personally would like to see it with the boys broadcast.

Comic Relief. I really think that Babe is there to entertain the not so hardcore fans, similar to what the Ticket guys do. Sad that a former player can't give the hardcore fans a little more.

Babe kills me when Spags is around, because for someone who played football, Spags is much more informative.

I detest Laufenberg with a flaming passion. The man just hops up and down on that last nerve every time I hear him. Sham is very good though IMO.

I thought the Cardinals guys were awful and terrible homers and the worst I have seen, then I saw the 2nd half of the Texans game.:ralph:

Our guys are informative, critical and call the game without the bias I have seen from other crews.

I wish they would bring Dale back.

You should here babe comment on QB passes.

"That pass should'a been a little bit more to the inside" as if he has skins to show anything as a QB, he was a horrible QB.

The Houston announcers truly represent their fan base, taking jabs at the Cowboys, Parcells and the sity of Dallas whenever possible. I couldn't believe the dialogue when they started cnacking on Texas Stadium, something about the press box they'll be in next week being really nice comparel to the one they were currently occupying. How old are these guys?

I think his QB career was comparable to Peyton Manning's, without all the stats, wins or skill. :D

QUOTE]

It made me giggle when they started talking about the Cowboys new stadium and their color man was going off about how nice it was going to be and then their play by play guy says something like...Now wait a minute nothing compairs to Reliant stadium and the other guy is oh yeah your right!

You could just tell that they knew they better not say some other stadium was better than Reliant! :D

Brad Sham is one of the best in the business...
