TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

there is getting fleeced and this, absolutely the worst trade Jerry has made in recent times for a 1 year rental too.its not like he is the missing piece for petes sake.
Dude not only do we not know if he’s a 1 year rental, but we desperately needed a #2 receiver. It was the teams biggest need

I think this will turnout to be a good trade seeing how Pickens will be in his final year of his contract. He knows he's on trial. I think he will come to Dallas with something to prove. I believe the talent is worth the chance. Besides, after the way the FO set on their hands and did nothing last season.I'm just glad to see them being aggressive. With the majority of the team building being character players one bad character player with superstar talent is a worth the chance.Taking chances is a part of success.

I'm good with it
They needed a #2...they got someone who can be a #1
Doubt they resign him given the $$ and will take a comp pick in 2027

Now we get to see Schottenheimer be forced to lie in explaining how Pickens fits the "new" culture.

This has TO and Parcells written all over it.
Parcells was ridiculous. Loved his discipline but he was being childish on Owens. In the mind of the Tuna, he would have cut or traded Irvin. All because he doesn't fit into his box. Sometimes you gotta make a rare exception on a guy . Pickens might be in this category. We shall see.

Get Michael Irvin to be Pickens' personal adviser on how to be a team player and respect the coaches. Get Charles Haley to speak to him how to go from malcontent (Haley took a piss on a SF coach's car) to a champion. Talent wise, Pickens is better than Gallup before he hurt his knee, better than Terrence Williams.

Pickens can be the Alvin Harper+ compliment to #88.

Boys have history of getting good or better WR's from other teams or free agents: Keyshawn Johnson, the Rocket, Galloway, Terry Glenn, T.O. Also do not underestimate the possibility of rookie WR Traeshon Holden of Oregon winning the 3rd WR slot. He came to the Boys with his college WR coach. He has starting WR playmaking ability, a lot more than anyone else on roster not named Lamb or Pickens.

Although I like the idea of putting together a team of choir boys with great talent, it is fact many of the NFL stars have a "non-choirboy" background or disposition and it is that darker side of them that propels them to greater heights, while solid coaching, guidance, and advanced personal maturity gains over time can rid them of their unfavorable behavorial manifestations.

The fact the Steelers, a actually better run organization wanted to get rid of a young talented receiver, should give everyone pause...the guy has been a major headache in Pittsburgh..so much for the NEW culture theme!!
Sometimes you must make exceptions. This was the right move. It's a 1 year rental if we don't like him. I got no issue with that. Love the big swing.

What if Mingo ends up being a nice number 3 and upgrade over Tolbert? Who ya gonna double team now? Lol

The Pittsburgh Steelers are trading Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in a deal that should be official soon, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the deal.
Dallas will receive Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick, while Pittsburgh will get a 2026 third-round selection and a 2027 fifth-rounder, Rapoport added.

Not a bad get for Pittsburgh for a guy they have gotten tired of. A third and a 5th is a pretty good haul for a player who is talented but in his last year. Also someone they clearly did not see a future with. Pittsburgh still needs a long term QB. They seem stuck in a solid but not great team. Finding a long term QB would fix a lot of their issues.

The way I see it, he becomes a potential comp pick if we do not resign him after the season. If he plays great, we can basically get a 3rd round pick back via a comp pick if the contract is high. If not, we still should get a comp pick, and we get a WR, which we need. So, to me, despite the compensation, I think it's a low risk deal. Plus, fwiw, we got a 7th back in the deal too. So, all in all, not bad.
in order for him to get a really large contract that would give us back a 3rd, he would have to play really great, in which case, then we actually lose because you lost a really good player for a bottom of the 3rd round (actually it would be top of a 4th in reality)....

that's what you call a lose lose situation.
