Well last season we opened up against and I was interested at how certain players performed.

Brady and Dak both played good that game.
The rushing game for both teams was ineffective, I don't expect that to be different this game Martin didn't start last season, he was out with COVID. Tyron is out, but the Bucs are also missing multiple offensive lineman.
Now here's where it gets a little interesting. Antonio Brown, Godwin, and Gronkowski we're Brady's go to guys that night, Godwin might not play, he lost a lot of weapons, major advantage for Dallas. Amari Cooper was Daks go to guy also, missing Gallup is gonna hurt, but Lamb did have over 100 yards receiving and a td that night.
On the defensive side Dallas had 0 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 interceptions ( 1 interception was a hail Mary pass)
The Bucs had one interception, and one sack.
Dallas also missed two field goals that game.
Dallas should win this game, nothing is easy, but I think everything is in our favor

Hopefully even if we struggle to run the ball again, we have more attempts than last year if for no other reason than to keep the defense honest. I do think we will try to run more and also be a little more successful than last year as long as McGovern doesn't get completely manhandled by Vita Vea all day

Ironically the INT was arguably Dak's best throw of the game. This should be a tight game. Dallas will have to stop the run, first and foremost, then somehow hurry Brady on passing downs. Dallas somehow needs to score 23-27 points. I don't think we can expect a lot of efficient long drives given the OL/WR and defensive opponent. So some big plays and turnovers would be ideal. Hopefully we don't come out flat and listless like the SF game that sent the team home last season.

We got jobbed by the refs, but what else is new?

Chris Godwin pushed off Jourdan Lewis to set up the game-winning FG.

If the situation were reversed and CeeDee Lamb pushed off a Bucs CB, the field would’ve been littered with yellow laundry... just like in Week 1 the year before when Michael Gallup “pushed off” Jalen Ramsey.

Both teams pretty much abandoned the run game. Dallas had 14 rushing attempts and the Bucs had 13.

Akiem Hicks is just as dangerous. And a guy we should have signed.

The story of that game was what happened when we faced 4th down.
Second quarter, 4th-and-3 at the TB 13. Opted to kick the FG, a poor decision made worse when Zuerlein missed it.
Third quarter, 4th-and-goal at the TB 3. Opted to kick, a mind-bogglingly terrible decision.
Fourth quarter, 1:29 left, 4th-and-6 at the TB 30, down by 1 point. Opted to kick and give Brady 90 seconds to get the game-winning FG. A bad decision especially given how shaky Zuerlein was (yes, he made it, but a 48-yarder was far from a gimme).

McCarthy got better with 4th-down decisions later in the year, but those Garrett-like decisions (and Zuerlein's leg) were the difference.

People always remember the tough/controversial decisions late in games, but often it's the early ones that set a team on a path to victory or defeat. Those early 4th-and-3 decisions ended up putting Dallas behind the 8-ball in the end.

Golden opportunity!
Hope we take advantage of it.

We should have won. Dak played well. The defense did just enough. But that damn kicker of ours!!!

You obviously don’t remember the game very well. Our defense wasn’t that great. Brady had just under 400 yards and we gave up 31 points. We couldn’t make critical stops late in the game. Greg Zuerlein had some misses but connected on a 48 yard field goal to give us a one point lead with 1:24 left in the game but our defense couldn’t stop Brady from driving down the field in the final 1:22. Tampa had 11 players to move the ball down to our 18 yard line leaving a chip shot for the game winner with just two seconds left. We had that game in the bag had our defense stepped up in the final minute.

Dallas was lucky to be in that game. At one point it was 28-19 in the 3rd and Godwin fumbled the ball somewhere inside the 10. They score there and the game is over.

The defense did just enough is what I said in my post. I gave them a C-minus on their performance in that game when you factor in the turnovers.

But opinions vary.
