Just like the NFL does every year with football, the staff uses each off-season to review our previous season and see if there are ways we can improve the site to make CowboysZone even better. Earlier this year, I made several tweaks and modifications to the software and hardware behind the site to improve the performance and speed of the site. Those improvements were put to the test during the start of free agency and the draft where we regularly had over 2,000 users online and thousands of posts made each day. I am pleased to say the site handled those traffic surges quite well and I am looking forward to seeing how well it performs during other high traffic events such as the start of training camp and game days.
Our staff has changed a little since last year. As most of you know by now, Hostile stepped down from the staff so he could return to posting a regular user again. WoodysGirl has been promoted to Admin and she has done a wonderful job during this transition. Just recently, we welcomed two more of our members, justbob and jobberone, to our staff. The CowboysZone staff volunteers a lot of their time to help keeping the site clean, organized and family-friendly so maybe when you have some extra time, you could let them know how much you appreciate what they do for the site!
During the review process of CowboysZone, it became clear that we need to make a few improvements to the site. The first improvement that we are implementing is to replace our heavily worded Forum Guidelines with a much simpler and straight-forward set of Forum Rules. For the most part, the rules are the same as before, though they have been simplified and consolidated into a much easier to read list. Please go read the new Forum Rules as soon as you can so you can!
We have also put together a CowboysZone FAQ that includes answers to many of the questions that many users have about this site. The CowboysZone FAQ is about the site, not the software behind the site, so even if you do not have any questions, you should go read the FAQ to learn more about this site and how it operates.
We have also posted our Reinstatement Process for users who have been banned in the past that will inform those users how they can go about reapplying to the site in the future.
We will announce more improvements as the season progresses, but in the meantime, if you have any suggestions or comments on these improvements or how we can improve the site, please post them in the Feedback thread.
