So we get the player THEY want in Spencer...

Then SF turns around and trades their first pick NEXT year for NE's pick this year...

Yeah, but the Boyz pick will probably be higher than NE's...

;)

Luck? They're a well run team. It's impressive watching them in action.

They are lucky, but the smarter you are, the luckier you get. :)

It might not be that much of a steal, though. I think SF is really on the rise and will be pretty good next year.

I actually think this is a good trade for San Fran. They basically swapped 1st round picks (this years NEs for next years SF) for a 4th round pick this year.

The pick is gonna be low, SF is gonna be a beast

Yeah, I don't think the Patriots made a very good deal there. SF wasn't bad last year and will be a lot better in 2007. They play in a very weak division and should make the playoffs. Taking Staley was a good move for them too. They helped their defense with selecting Willis earlier and now the O-Line with Staley. They are making some smart moves this offseason and should be much improved this coming year.

So ... could we have traded the 26th pick for San Francisco's No. 1 next year (plus something) and ended up with three No. 1s? (Ours, Cleveland's and San Francisco's.)

WE basicall forced NE to this trade though

if spencer was there, they would have drafted him. We took him so they traded out, they had no reason to stay there

Possibly but NE could afford to trade theirs since they already had one in the 1st round.

this will be somewhere in the 20's im not worried about it! Thanks to the Dolphins we now have a top 10 pick next year!

Paying three number ones with one of them potentially top five? Jerry would trade down again. I am crossing my fingers we keep both first rounders we have next season hope we get the best picks available from them.

And Ozzie Newsome pulls a typical Ozzie Newsome ... he gets a guy ranked #18 on Goose's top 100 board and a perennial All Pro player with the 30th pick. He seems to always have great players fall right in his lap.

Really all depends how Meriweather pans out in NE. I still think Meriweather belongs in the 2nd round, but I always thought Spencer was a low 1st round talent. NE should have picked Spencer at 24, but they probably thought Spencer would still be there at 28.

I really think we got the best player out of the two.
