1.26 Dallas Cowboys -- RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama

Collinsworth notes:
- too much going on with the Dallas RB position (Elliot gone/Pollard coming off broken leg) not to take the exciting Gibbs
- plenty of fight on first contact, has the 4.36 speed to escape
- jet sweeps, toss sweeps, screens....just get the ball in his hands
- thinks there's a chance we look back on Gibbs and say "he's pretty special"
- says don't forget McCarthy is taking over the play calling and will want to look different than Kellen Moore on offense, he almost has to do something different, Gibbs gives the Cowboys a chance to be different on offense
- passed on TE Michael Mayer, Notre Dame but thinks there will still be a TE in the second round good enough for Dallas' liking

PFF analysts notes:
- Gibbs puts second-level defenders in a blender
- the explosive combination of both Pollard and Gibbs in the same backfield is like two knives ready to carve up the defense
- by bringing in Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks and shoring up those positions, there's a case to be made for just getting more athletic and explosive even at the RB position

I always wanted to draft Gibbs because he is a 1st round talent. He is a faster Tony Pollard with elite passing skills…we can get a lineman in round 2.

He's among my top three "realistic" options. The others are Calijah Kancey and Darnell Wright. I'm not going to be upset if all three are gone or Dallas goes a different direction, but I might jump for joy if one of those three end up a Cowboy.

If we drafted Gibbs at #26 and Moved up a few spots and got Steve Avila in the second round I would be happy

I've seen several members here who have taken him with their final mock draft including myself. He would be a mismatch player that could stretch the defense.

Amazing how this is the newest craze for the Cowboys at 26. I just dont see it. I think it would be a terrible use of our first pick. Trade back if thats all thats available. Get him in the 2nd round, then maybe.

I’m telling you… Gibbs is going to be fantastic.
Part time player in year #1. Heck if they get rid of Pollard he is still a part time player. Then after 5 years hes toast. Just dont see the value. And a guy like Gibbs is going to need great Oline play and we dont have that.

I’m afraid KC or Philly are gonna jump us to get him.

Even more reason for Gibbs.

He makes so much sense for this team.

If they take the long term team building approach then go draft a linemen or whatever.

Gibbs is going to be electric though and McCarthy and Dak may not have a lot longer here

Gibbs is the right now pick.
