His best regular season yet. A truly remarkable bounce-back year as well.

He and MM deserve a lot of credit for the turnaround— but all anyone will remember is how this team plays in the playoffs.

Pulling for him to breakthrough and change the narrative.

He had a great season. We also know that most fans won't care if this team doesn't make some noise in the playoffs. That's just how it is, fair or not.

Dak has shown he can play, despite some folks refusing to see it. But can he lead his team in the biggest moments? So far, that hasn't happened.

Tune in next Sunday.

Dak threw 36 Touch Downs this season and only 9 Interceptions.

He finished second in QBR with a 105 (Purdy finished with 111).

He also led the team to 12 wins resulting in an NFC East Championship and the #2 seed.
That's Passer Rating, not QBR. He also finished very slightly behind Purdy in QBR (72.6 vs. 72.8): they were the only two over 70.

As good as some of the seasons they had, Staubach, Aikman and Romo never led the league in TD passes.

We have a very good offense this year. And the defense isn't bad either!

The interceptions last year were an issue, and Dak and the coaches and his receivers seem to have put in the work to clean up that issue.

Of the int's Dak threw this year, I only fault him for 3 of them. Not all int's are created equal.

There's an interception where there's an obvious miscommunication between the QB and the receiver, where either the receiver cuts the wrong way and the QB ends up throwing the ball right to a defender, or the receiver runs the correct route and the QB throws to the wrong spot. Unless you know what the play is, and exactly what the WR was supposed to do, its sometimes not clear who was at fault, the QB or the receiver.

Then there's the deflected/popped up int's. Those are the ones where the WR runs the right route, the QB throws the ball and its mishandled, and popped up or deflected into the air. In SOME cases you can say 'Well the QB threw this ball to the wrong spot, the receiver tried to adjust and ended up mishandling it. But in most cases, this kind of int is not the QB's fault.

The third category is the int where the QB throws a good pass, the WR runs the right route...and the freaking defender just makes a brilliant play on the ball and anticipates it perfectly.

The fourth category is where the QB gets hit juuuust as he's throwing the ball and the ball's trajectory is affected, and a defender grabs it out of the air.

Of his int's this year, my opinion Dak is only directly at fault for 3 of them. 6 of Dak's int's this year looked to me to be either a deflected/popped up ball or a miscommunication in which the receiver seems to have run the wrong way. Or the defender just made a brilliant play on the ball. Or he got smashed while he was throwing.

Only 3 times do I see Dak making a bad pass that gets picked. Passes he shouldn't have thrown. And 2 of these passes happened in the 49er game, the one where he got picked 3 times.

He's made a dramatic improvement over last year, where he had around 9 passes that were intercepted where I faulted him for the throw. He threw 15 total last season, and he was at fault IMHO for half of them. From 9 to 3 is a big improvement, and we've also seen a dramatic reduction in the Int's from miscommunications and mishandled balls that pop up in the air for grabs.

I think that is passer rating.

QBR...2023...final

1...Brock Purdy...72.8 [73.0 raw]
2...Dak Prescott...72.6 [75.0 raw]

Prescott's PAA, EPA, and PASS numbers are all MVP level (significantly higher than Purdy and Jackson). A better performance against Buffalo and he would've finished as QBR leader. His best QBR performance remains his rookie season...77.6, but his PAA, EPA and PASS numbers were all lower. He had a MUCH better running game and offensive line as well. He's a better quarterback now than he was in 2016. 2023 Dak goes farther in 2016. I'd put him at Romo's level for 2014 [79.6] right now. You've never had a Dallas QB playing as well with an above average defense...since the 90s.

Where does this defense rank this season in advanced metrics ?

So how can Jackson be the mvp?
Because he was an X factor and key reason in the Ravens winning games on a regular basis throughout the season including smashing the 49ers. The two blue chip teams the Cowboys and Prescott faced were the 49ers and Bills. He embarrassed himself in both games whilst the team endured beatdowns hence why he isn't even in the running for MVP.

Great bounce back year.
Limited turnovers while not being too conservative.

Hoping he can continue in the postseason.

What will be interesting is if Purdy or Prescott get the nod for 2nd team All Pro. Prescott had a meltdown against the 49ers and Bills whilst Purdy did against the Ravens. I would still go with Prescott as whilst people overrate the 49ers o-line (how did they look without Trent Williams against the Ravens during 4th quarter) Purdy has CMC. Both defences are strong. Prescott should be 2nd team All Pro.

I was wondering how possible was it for Brock and Dak to be All Pros and Lamar win MVP? Because I can’t say Lamar was a better QB then them but I can say he was MVP.
