Dak on how much the offense will change with McCarthy: “Mike told me 20-30% change."

Translation: All the curl route plays will be tweaked or be removed and run to the middle on first down will be reduced. Sounds good to me.
Three curls / four curls is actually a good playcall on first down because it gets you ahead of the chains and sets up short 2nd downs. It's also an extremely effective playcall on, say, 1st and 20 after a penalty, because it pretty much guarantees you get roughly half your penalty yardage back and can salvage the drive. McCarthy did that a TON in the Rodgers era.

It's a bad playcall on third down because other teams know it's coming and they will guard the sticks like a hawk, so the windows are very tight to throw if they are there at all.

Unless the right 20% such as better route trees.
Fair enough. I feel like the reason no one likes the route trees is because they are basic. Say what you want about Warner but the guy is a true jedi master at the QB position and when he breaks down the film he is always saying stuff like when we did this it was an option, when we did this the WR had a choice. I am to the point where I believe that Dak is never going to be that guy that picks a team apart because he knows what they are doing and takes advantage. It is why he was so effective and efficient as a rookie. IMHO no change to the offense is going to make that much of a difference. Dak is pretty much at his ceiling. It isn't a terrible ceiling but it doesn't look like it is championship caliber either.

I'm guessing will take up the bulk of the 20/30% change
Yeah, that and probably the type of routes being run.

I mean, really, there is no good way to come up with a percentage of change in the offense… it is just a guess. Dak had to have something to tell Jori.

I expect a pretty good bit of change in how they were doing things. I expect them to be improvements, for the most part. Hell, the Solari hire alone would change a decent amount up front with his inside zone game. Throw in different routes, and a ton more play action passing, and you’re looking at a whole different offense.

What percentage is that? Who really knows, but it will be different, for sure.

Last season, Dallas saw their physicality and mental toughness as something that needed to get better, and they took care of that. They got rid of a few players that didn’t fit that. They then drafted for toughness and aggression (hello Tyler Smith, Sam Williams, and Jake Ferguson). And in training camp, they made physical play and aggressiveness a focal point.

It was much better this year too, which was evident all season long… especially in the playoffs.

So, with their new hires (Schottenheimer and Solari) and a focus on the run game, I imagine we will see much improvement there.

They just need to take care of the RB position now and they should play even tougher on offense.

I really am excited to see the offense… for the first time in I don’t know how long.
