I battled that beast (Stage 4) over a 7 year journey. I've been cancer free for the past 5 years and considered cured (Thank God!).

I ignored the symptoms leading up to it.

Listen to Dak's message.

If you are of the age, get a screening. It's cliche', but it could save your life.

Not doing it almost cost me my life - don't make the same mistake!

Well said. I have not been confronted with the disease but have heeded that advice.

I have done two colonoscopies since turning 50. It is recommended getting re-screened at least every five years. Regular screenings are something else that cannot be stressed enough.

just had a colonoscopy last week. Found 1 large polyp. Haven't heard anything back from the lab yet. I been losing alot of weight. Im in my mid 50's, never been screened before.
Try not stressing too much while waiting on the results. Finding polyps is not unusual. My gastroenterologist found polyps after both of my scopes. Thankfully, the pathologies came back benign.

Here is a good website reference for diet and fighting the disease:

Don't be an ***...lol. Don't get me started on the proctologist jokes.
Reminds me of a coworker three decades ago; one day she was looking unhappy. I asked her what was wrong.
She replied " I had a gynecologist appointment earlier today. I never am in a good mood after the visit - I should have not come into work."
I responded with what made it so bad. She said, "Well - my specialist is a man; while he is probing around in my insides, he makes small talk, probably thinking that puts my mind at ease - like - "What do your think about our (Atlanta) Braves?"
I will never, ever forget that conversation as long as I live. Brings a smile to my face and a chuckle every time something reminds me of it.

Wonderful coverage and thank you for sharing this so important message, @WoodysGirl !!!

I personally have been dealing with some gastrointestinal issues in recent years. Got both an endoscopy and colonoscopy done 2 years ago (due for another) while being diagnosed with chronic gastritis. Had several polyps removed (thankfully none came back cancerous), which is why it's so important for anyone who has stomach pains/discomfort to get checked frequently (especially if you are 50 years old or older). It's way better to catch any symptoms in time before they become cancerous and make the necessary changes in diet, exercise, medication, etc to prevent any gastrointestinal issues from getting worse.

“This is what he’s focused on this week during the biggest game of the season”….don’t mind me just doing my best imitation of some posters here
So basically you decided to hijack the thread and make it negative because you thought someone else would. Okay

Hey Rayman,

I would advise you to give them a call for a follow-up. Being a retired Veteran, I get regular checkups for polyps. I pray that you are doing well.
