Dak to Throw More While Under Center?

One thing I haven't seen addressed in camp yet (maybe I missed it) is the fact that when Dak is under center the play called is most likely a run or play action. Maybe Dak is still limited in this regard (I don't know for sure; I think I remember reading that he didn't do it much in college so the assumption was he wasn't able to do it well) but in the effort to be less predictable the Cowboys need to have a better run/pass distribution in these situations.

I don't recall seeing him just drop back and pass at all this camp. Maybe he has and I just forgot or didn't see it, but right now I'm anxious to see what happens during preseason.

Good point.

Not much film at all from training camp. Wish there was so we would know what's happening.

I don't the issue is the percentage of use, it's what the Cowboys do when Dak is under center. If the opposing team knows he's likely not to throw the ball, then one would think it's harder to run the ball (maybe you can find stats on that).

Maybe I'm different. I think we should run play-action more.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Dak seems to do better either on the run or on play action, but I think he needs to improve on just normal drop backs. It may help to call plays where he has to throw the ball quickly, but dress them up a bit different so the defense doesn't know where he's going with the football.

The Rams by being under center 62% almost force themselves to be more balanced run/pass while under center.

When teams only play under center a small percentage of the overall snaps then most of the under center snaps are likely to be runs.

And will stay "Limited" as QB are born not trained!
