Everyone else can risk injury. They aren’t important enough to protect for the real games.

But will Dak be throwing soft 10 yard passes before the game while we're told that he hopes to be ready for Week 1? That's the real question.

Can we retire the "dress rehearsal" term, please? Some teams value playing time in preseason more than others. It's to the point where several teams don't play their starters at all in preseason, making "dress rehearsal" obsolete.

Not a surprise. Dak and D-Law are coming off injuries and to be honest, I can't remember the last time Zeke played in a preseason game.
Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson went through the majority of their careers without participating in PS games.

The coach already said this isn’t a dress rehearsal. Where do y’all come up with this stuff?

There's really no such thing as a "dress rehearsal" game anyway. By now all NFL fans should know preseason football. No game plans are drawn up. Teams don't specifically scheme to beat the other team. They just line up and run basic plays in order to evaluate and make roster decisions. Nobody reveals more than a portion of their playbook in games that don't count.

I know some people will say the quality of football early in 2020 was hurt by the lack of preseason, but that's not the reason at all. It was the lack of OTA's, minicamp, and in-person installation that ruined the quality; plus the scaled back version of training camp.

Preseason games are nothing more than practices held against another team in an actual game setting. The NFL gets to sell tickets and make money off television since they can bill it as an actual "game" but the facts are it's not.

Ever-changing situation over the last decade. Some teams still play their starters in the next-to-last game (previously was #3, this summer #2) - Patriots, Chiefs.
If\when the NFL wants to go to 18 RS game Schedule - will the NFLPA negotiate something like veterans - players with accrued 3 seasons + are exempt from exhibition play - unless they forego that right to get in reps?

Of course he will...and Prescott will do a sideline interview during the exhibition to let the NFL world know he's good to go v. Buccanneers Sept. 9th.
