Because Dak was a 4th round pick, we act like he was a nobody in college. That's simply not true. He was one of the most hyped QBs when he was at Mississippi State. Some of the other quarterbacks that were talked about when Dak was in college were people like Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Paxton Lynch, Cardale Jones, JT Barrett, and Baker Mayfield. All of those guys are LOL to most NFL followers, but Dak ended up at least relevant and in the conversation as an NFL QB, and has at least fans. Keyshawn is a Dak fan. Steven Ruiz is a Dak fan. There are lots of Dak fans. Funny how things turn out eh?

I was a Dak fan when I watched him in college. He came on the scene out of nowhere and I thought this young kid had potential. In the same year, Romo had his best year of his career. I was watching Dak on Saturday, and Romo on Sundays. I even thought Dak could've been Romo's successor. I was like.... "what if this guy became Romo's successor on my favorite team? That'd be cool." And then when my dreams actually came true and heard the Cowboys drafted him, naturally I was psyched, but I was wondering why they chose him so late. I thought he was much better than that. I obviously didn't expect in the slightest that he would be promoted to starting Quarterback so soon. Life was so fun as a Cowboy in 2016.

What I find most impressive about Dak in college is he played for Mississippi State and had them at #1 in the nation most of the year. I went back and watched the main game of the year today on youtube vs Alabama, and altho he threw 3 picks...... he still kept them in it and ended up losing by only 5 points. He was one game away from playing in the SEC championship game against the greatest college coach of all time, and probably would've then beaten Missouri and gotten into the playoffs. People like to praise Joe Burrow, but he played for LSU. If Dak played for LSU or Alabama, he would've won a national title too. Think what Saban could've done with Dak. And that host of all stars at LSU would've made life really easy for Dak too.

Mahomes never elevated Texas Tech. 4-8, 7-6, 5-7. Yet Dak severely elevated Mississippi State. Since he graduated, MSU goes back to irrelevant. Josh Allen played for Wyoming so I'll cut him some slack, but if those guys are so good, why did only Dak elevate his usually dogcrap program and those other guys didn't?

These are the guys Dak had on offense in that #1 ranked MSU team in 2014:

Wait... who the heck any of these people??? Oh right... my gardener, my plumber, my cable guy. Sure Mississippi State had Preston Smith, Chris Jones, and Darius Slay?? (I don't know if he was on that team) and that's an awesome defensive lineup, but Dak played with a bunch of nobodies on offense that he elevated to #1 - which is the only side of the ball he had anything to do with.

Dak was an excellent college QB. He was nearly a Heisman finalist that year and really tore up the SEC with a cast of nobodies on offense. If they win that game at Alabama he probably finishes top 3 or 4 in Heisman voting (he finished 8th in 2014 as a Jr... Coop was 3rd!) and probably makes the playoff.

People don't remember it, but he was a very good runner in college too. Really smart reads and knew when to tuck and run.

They're not but I guess your burning issue is Dak so you focus on those threads.
I'm one of the first to predict and continue to debate his ill talent base......YES.
Has he proven me wrong......NO.
Now take that 1 playoff win and all those Dog padding stat wins and enjoy your man I guess.

Uh boy....another pump up Dak with gummy bears, rainbows and unicorns thread. Who really cares what he did in college 8 to 10 years ago. ? Not the same player. This is the NFL......., wear and tear, injuries, defenses, money, age, etc.... Let's just hope he can perform in these next three games at the level you are claiming. We can see with our own eyes and you won't have to tell us.

Thanks for this post. It’s one of the reasons I love this forum. I’ll still take Burrow over Dak though. But I get, and do appreciate, your post. Thank you for sharing.

Come on man, we all love the Cowboys. Just because I like Dak doesn't mean doesn't mean I don't love the Cowboys. I'm all for Cooper Rush if he proves he's good enough. He was 27th in passer rating when he was benched, he simply wasn't playing well enough. Dak's the best we got. Montana and Marino aren't coming. Nobody but Allen and Mahomes are elite right now. The math (2 out of 32) simply doesn't support fantasies of procuring an elite QB anytime soon. Winning a Super Bowl is more important than Dak love, but I'm not blind to reality either.

His College career was pretty meh, he was all over the road with completion percentage some games in the 50s some in the 70s some in the 60s, some games 200+ yards other games 400 yards. Also it seemed the good defenses in college gave him fits. The Arkansas Game in 2015 looks impressive a 51-50 game 38/50 over 500 yards 5TDS and 1 INT. It is evident that neither sides defense actually made it to the game.

I don't know what to tell you if you think his college career is meh. You probably weren't watching. He only struggled against Saban in college, but ripped most of the rest. But struggling against Saban..... that's pretty much most everyone.

I thought it was amazing what he was able to do with that team, and that roster.

yeah, he's the best ever, better than Roger, Troy, and every other quarterback in the NFL past and present.

At least 10,000 do mention Dak. You’re obsessed. It’s your thing. Just be a man and own it.
