Dallas leads the league in penalty yards at 964 yds. I think its around 56 yds/game

This is one stat Dallas needs to fix. It all comes down to discipline. I think we all witnessed TD's and big first down plays being called back at the worst times causing a loss. But this stat also makes players have to work harder causing more wear and tear on their bodies and possibly leading to more injuries. If there is one thing I want McCarthy to promise, it is more discipline and a reduction of this embarrassing stat.

Last year he said it was his #1 focus and that didn't happen so I'm sure this is the year it gets fixed...

Just another MM run it back lie.
I bet we're gonna run the damn ball and rest the defense too.

Pathetic.

Need smarter players and / or more accountability.
more accountability?

There has to be some before there is more...

When was the last time a player was benched / cut / let go due to poor performance?

MM had to run any player discipline by Jerry. By the time he got Jerry's ear, the pregame walkthrough was underway.

He can’t fix it. It has been there through multiple coaches and roster turnovers. It’s a by product of the culture that lacks accountability and views almost as good enough. That’s what needs fixing and issues like penalties will simply disappear.

There is accountability shown at the level of productions, yea, on both sides of the ball. Arenas of accountable issues needs focus.

Like others have said this has been an issue for well over a decade. I think it comes down to team accountability. I can't speak for pro ball, but high school teams often punish those responsible for penalties by running laps, running snakes, running sleds, etc. which makes them think twice about committing them. Maybe the team should fine players more for penalties if they are not already doing so. Other teams obviously have it figured out why can't we?

This was his “#1” focus after 2021. 2 years later and we are back to leading the league again.

I have zero faith in this coaching staff or roster of players to make positive change.

I expect failure because that is all they have ever delivered in the big games when the rubber meets the road.

Padding stats and beating lesser teams amounts to lipstick on this pig. Good teams don’t beat themselves with penalties, mistakes, poor fundamentals, and self-inflicted wounds.

When you are known for those 4 things and consistently put them on display in clutch situations— you are what you are: a losing team.

Unfortunately for the Cowboy Nation, with the same HC and DC in place the Cowboys are just a lousy undiscipline team that will continue to make the stupid penalties that keep their opponent's drives alive. GB's opening drive was assisted by a ridiculous holding penalty that should have never happened, it also wiped out a sack for Parsons on the same play.

I've often wondered why so many people expected Dallas to succeed with the most penalized team, a team unable to run the all or stop the run.

What other team in history has succeeded, leading the league in penalties, unable to run the ball and unable to stop the run?? I can't think of any.

So my question is.... why do people, (including our own fans) expect Dallas to do things no other teams in history were able to do?
