It is night to day when it comes to takeaways. It is a story of "Worst to First"
The Cowboys defense, for six years previous to 2021, had embarrassing numbers. They had consecutive years of one digit numbers in INT's. In fact, for 6 consecutive seasons, they had 10 or less INT's. Truly dismal.
Does anybody remember the days when the Cowboys leader in INT's for an entire season would be the middle linebacker?
2020 - 10 INT's, the leader is a rookie by the name of Trevon Diggs. he has 3.
2019 - 7 INT's, there was a two way tie between two players with a total of 2 each
2018 - 9 INT's, the same, a two way tie between two players with two each. One guy was a safety, the other a linebacker. The CB with the most INT's had 1.
2017 - 10 INT's....Whoo Hoo!!!
2016 - 9 INT's, Barry Church the only one to have more than 1. He had 2.
2015 - 8 INT's This time the INT leader is Jeff Heath.....with 2. Again, no CB with multiple INT's.
Simply pathetic.
2021 - 26 INT's, Trevon Diggs, alone, had more INT's than the entire Cowboys defense for six consecutive seasons.
So, what changed in 2021?
That's right. Quinn is the master chemist.
