Dallas Cowboys Official Weekly

Is it worth it to subscribe? I was thinking of asking my wife to get me a 1 year subscription for my birthday, which is in a couple of weeks.

I haven't subscribed to it since the Al Gore invented the internet.

I subscribe but probably won't renew.

Most issues offer a couple of quality feature articles that are not available elsewhere (interviews with current and former players), but the majority of information in the Weekly is stuff that you already know if you subscribe to message boards and read the various newspaper articles that are typically posted to message boards. -- And the Weekly arrives at your house after you've read the stuff on the internet.

The "Ask Coach Parcells" section is basically a retread of stuff said during press conferences - so if you listen to his press conferences via the web, that section simply repeats part of what you already heard.

Back when the Dallas Cowboys Weekly was just getting started, about 30-35 years ago, I was a subscriber and loved it.

But that was before the internet, before the massive increase in sports coverage, and back when Cowboys assistant coaches were free to give interviews.

I think the Dallas Cowboys Weekly is a quality publication - but given all of the information that is available on the internet (articles, press conference streaming, etc.), I'm not sure there is a still a place for the weekly magazine format.

Are you serial?

Actually, I agree. DCW was a great thing for me (being that I live in NY and had a ton of trouble getting Cowboys news back in the day), but with this site I don't need it anymore.

It's good to see that we have some South Park fans on here.

The cheerleader centerfolds are good.
They use to show more pictures from the games but they don't do that as much anymore.
I started getting it during the 1978 season and the game pics were outstanding then.
Of course with the internet on hand now the weekly does not measure up as much as it use to but...They have a QandA with Parcells every issue(pretty vanilla questions),Cheerleader centerforld, player profiles, and a mailbag section where they answer mail from fans.
Other than that you can get most everything else on your computer.

Also good to see that it was picked up on so quickly :)

I subscribed to DCW for years, but now this site keeps me fully informed on important Cowboys information. The only thing I no longer get is some pretty good analytical articles.

I subscribed for about 15 years but as most people have said once the Internet came there really is no reason for it anymore.

It used to drive me crazy that it would come like the Monday after the game so any preview was worthless.

Any news you get in it will already be old by the time you get it and you will have read the news here first.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll save that $50 for a different present :)
