Dallas Cowboys were once the NFL standard
BY TOM SORENSEN
Charlotte Observer

TIDBIT: CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bank of America Stadium will be jammed on Saturday for several reasons. The weather will be perfect. Almost nobody has to work. And if Carolina wins, it makes the playoffs for the third time in franchise history and could clinch the NFC South.

And the opponent is Dallas. Dallas is the real deal, the establishment, the team that's too big to ignore. You beat Dallas, you feel as if you accomplished something.

We must keep that opinion in tact.........Our Karma is on the line.

Those days are long gone. The only team that really cares about beating the Cowboys these days are the Commanders, any other team could probably care less what we did in the 70s and 90s.

I still think there's something to playing the Cowboys. It's kinda like playing the Lakers, you always think they could beat you somehow.

I think the Cowboys may have an edge in that with regards to attracting Free Agents and draftees wanting to play here.

Im not trying to be a doom and gloomer, but I really think the luster and the appeal has worn off. 10-12 years of mediocre production will do that too you.

I think the Skins will always look at us this way, but for everyone else, I doubt they care and it is going to get worse and worse if we continue to miss the playoffs.

A very true statement. Even in Dallas' down years, it always seems like an accomplishment to beat them. Even in their down years, they never seem like one of the "worst" teams.

I'm a Skin fan, so it's always special for me (and a rare thing in recent years). But fans I know of other teams seem to feel the same way, perhaps to a lesser degree, but there is something to it.
