27. Carson Strong QB Nevada
59. Chad Muma LB Wyoming
91. Trey McBride TE Colorado State
129. Emil Ekiyor OG Alabama
142. Obinna Eze OT TCU
169. Jamaree Salyer OT Georgia
206. Demani Richardson S Texas A&M

My plan with this draft was competition while not moving draft positions but taking BPA.

Carson Strong has legit NFL arm and traits. Dak has competition, and Strong has time to develop.
Chad Muma -- leading tackler in college this year. Cox and Muma can battle for time with Parsons.
Trey McBride -- legit starting TE. A year of NFL strength training/NFL coaching and he will be a difference maker I hope.
Ekiyor, Eze, Salyer -- rebuild the line, competition starts now.
Demani -- local kid, legit safety prospect in size, strength and speed.

Wish I could have taken a high DL, another TE, a WR but they just weren't where I needed them.
Jerry was all in so he figured out a way to sign Kearse, Gregory, and Von Miller.
Brought in Andrew Billings, and UDFA Siaki Ika, Baylor - to give Bohanna some competition at 1T.

With that said, what would you say if this was the Dallas draft in 2022.

Trey McBride is the top rated TE. Unlikely to be available in the 3rd.

Jamaree Salyer is #4 on Kiper's OG list. He is clearly an OG, not OT in the NFL, but probably 2nd round, not #169.

Zero chance the Cowboys draft at QB in the 1st. The fan/media demanding the backup QB is the last thing they need.

Late 2nd or early 3rd seems about right for Muma. There seem to be a lot of really good off-ball LBs this year.

Trey McBride is #5 TE on some boards I have read. Will know lots more later.

I have seen him mocked from 2-7 rounds which cracks me up. Some say he will develop as a OT, and some say OG. You are probably correct, but I have seen it go lots of different ways.

If there is 0 chance, that is a shame. Dallas should always be looking to upgrade and if they believe is him (and I am not saying they do, nor need to) then it would give them 2-3 years to develop properly. If he is the highest rated player on their board at that time, I hope they start making it a habit to draft a QB every 3 years or so.

So far I like what I have seen for Muma. I like Brandon Smith, and Pappoe better, but haven't watched enough film to see who the best ones are, and even if I did, Dallas wouldn't agree.

Brandon Smith is going to be a big topic of discussion leading up to the draft.

He is likely going to have the best measurables of the off-ball LBs but he does not consistently play up to his physical abilities.

I like Damone Clark in the 2nd. He probably won't put up a wow forty like Brandon Smith, but he was a much better college player than Smith, IMO.

Picking a QB in #1 is a luxury we can’t afford. We won’t take one unless it’s the third day.

defeats the purpose because a 3rd day QB isn't going to push Dak and provide legit competition.

We have too many holes for drafting a QB in the first. Also Jerry never drafts a QB this early if he has found his "guy".
