OXNARD, Calif. — The dilemma of depth at linebacker is beginning to sort itself out, and in a big way, for the Dallas Cowboys. The progression of Jabril Cox is joined by what looks to be a looming Year 2 leap for his former fellow LSU teammate Damone Clark, and then there's the addition of rookie third-round pick DeMarvion Overshown — all three making an impact in the preseason opener.

If Jabril's pilot light finally comes on, it will be a big plus for the Cowboys....with Clarke and Overshown showing impact. Harper and Land also showing stuff. Lots of potential here, but not much experience....was hoping Dallas could get a vet LB, but it is what it is....(lol, had to throw that in there )

Really excited about Clarke. The athleticism, the intelligence, and the reports on his “all business” approach and work ethic all have his arrow pointing up…

With improvements up front in the interior DL, he should be able to run, seek, and destroy at will.

Cox has always had the potential to be a really good coverage backer. I hope he finds a role.

Overshown is a matchup nightmare and I can see Quinn deploying him in a variety of packages that weaponize him as a QB wrecker.

LVE is steady as they come and should really benefit from not having to face as many OL as well.

All in all— there is so much positivity around this group. I haven’t felt this excited about our LB corps in many, many years

I say let these young guys play. Clark has some NFL game experience already and an offseason to prepare. Cox is in his 3rd year although he lost a year to injury. Still being in meetings, watching film should help him develop. All three of these young guys possess speed and athleticism. And Don't forget Devin Harper. He might be the guy who takes LVE's place if he gets hurt.

Of course young guys make mistakes at times and these guys will too. But young guys bring an enthusiasm and intensity as well. Let them play.

Overshown really does seem to have a little something. Most rookies don’t fly around like he is, which helps him stick out right away.

I think he is going to be better than I expected, which is great news for Dallas.

A speed defense is a wonderful thing. It is early but I am getting the feeling we might be seeing the return of the swarm that we haven't seen round these parts nigh onto 30 years.

Exactly. They’re confident in agent 0 and Damone. If cox can be healthy skys the limit. Also with Quinn and consistency they can make big strides tog.

Overshown is a dog. Clark looked so much more physical and comfortable last.

I think it’s a bit dubious we still hear/see very little re: Jabril Cox.

Best thing about the development of these LBs and better DT play is that it will allow Parsons to rush the QB a lot more

May well be that MM as head coach and DQ as DEF coordinator is better than any combination of DQ as head coach plus new DEF coordinator

Jabril in his 2nd season was bypassed by Clark despite Clark having major off-season surgery and no training camp.

It appears that Overshown is already ahead of Jabril.

I get the feeling that Devin Harper is ahead of Jabril at this point.
