It's a slow time with everything going on.
So I thought I would bring up one of my favorite Cowboys playsrs.
Dan Reeves I remember back in 1966. We were just beginning to win. In the summer of 1966 Landry had experimented with the HB position.
Landry moved Mel Mel Renfro from CB where he was All Pro to HB. Mel was fast and had good hands but he was soon out with an injury.
Dan Reeves was a QB out of South Carolina. Reeves went in and quickly became the starter. Bowlegged and not very fast..he sort of glided along and slipped upfield at will.
Before long. Landry had invented the multiple offense using motion and shifts and Reeves was featured in this offense.
Reeves was especially known for throwing the HB pass and made it a deadly play in the offense.
After his playing career he went on to coach 3 other teams to great success. Unfortunately he never won a Super Bowl but his career brought great honor to our franchise.
Here is an interesting documentary on Reeves. Most current fans do not know this part of our heritage as a football team but its there.
Enjoy.
