D'Antoni Resigns.

Now that he's free, Mike D'Antoni will accompany Kobe on his next trip to Colorado. No one will stop Kobe from scoring with D'Antoni around.

this is progress....i would like dolan to do whatever it takes to aquire tom thibedeau....i care not that he is under contract and coaching the best team in the league...

get it done!

I don't think D'Antoni is a great NBA Coach, but this is pathetic. It's clear the problem on the team is Carmelo Anthony, not Mike D'Antoni.

I'm sure Melo would defend himself... if he could play defense...

Cold blooded.

Carmelo reminds me of when the Knicks had Stephon Marbury. All offense, ball-stopper, no defense.

It's really a shame... they are 2-8 with him back...

The kid has it all... he just doesn't utilize it...

He doesn't want to. All he wants to do is score and shoot the ball.

Definition of a gunner on the court. I could never stand playing with guys like him because it's absolutely impossible to design an offense or any set pieces with them on the team.

It would be different if he shot well. But he's a volume shooter and takes absolutely abhorrent shots at times.

Yep... he runs me crazy...

We won state my sophomore year in high school... no one expected it...

We played GREAT defense and upset the top team in the nation in the state finals... they were run and gun and faced a defense much like Nolan Richardson's 40 minutes of Hell when he was at Arkansas...

Defense is NEVER over-rated...

Defense is KEY...

And just a few hours later the Knicks are crushing Portland at halftime 55-29

Second game in a row Portland's looked like a d-league team.

The NBA is the worst for watered down talent pool right now.

Defense requires 4x more effort than offense. Carmelo wants all the accolades of being a big time scorer, but doesn't want to work to actually become a great player.

This is what makes Kobe, Wade, and Jordan all-world players. They do it all. (and I'm a big time Wade hater)

Carmelo could be a lot better defender, he is just too lazy. I told my wife the Knicks would regret bringing that sorry *** here. They already do, they just don't realize it yet.

Melo was never a good fit with D'Antoni.

Sad thing is that a bunch of players specifically went to NY to play for that coach--certainly Staudamire and Chandler, and most liklely Davis and Jefferies as well. Plus Lin is a perfect fit in the Nash role.

Melo is a give-me-the-rock, stand and watch while I take 20 dribbles, then shoot player. he is talented, but the match was horrible.

The record does not lie in theis case.

Welcome to Dolan's world. The Melo trade and Walsh's departure quashed any glimmer of hope that fans had that the franchise was turning over a new leaf.

And people were flaming me (albeit consider the intelligence level of some here) for saying I'd rather take Lin and his results over Carmelo Anthony 7 days out of 7.

Anthony is like Allen Iverson, just like said above -- "watch me take 20 dribbles and shoot".
