FRISCO, Texas - The Bengals announced that Frank Pollack, the Cowboys' offensive line coach for the last three seasons, is joining Cincinnati's staff in the same role. Reports surfaced earlier this week that the Cowboys were parting ways with Pollack as part of several changes to Jason Garrett's coaching staff.

Wow! Going from 1 franchise where it might be win this year or you're out, to another win or you might be out is not good.

Hope he does well, but the Bengals need some OL though regardless of any coach. They let a few go in FA and it hurt them last year.

That's ok. Coach Jerry is dusting off his basketball shorts, gym shoes and whistle. He'll get the line ready for next year.

The Falcons must be on their schedule. Good for him. I am even happier for this team. I was disappointed that Dallas did not demolish teams more with the stellar O-line. The Atlanta game really sticks in my craw. After that game I wanted Pollack gone. I just don't see how the team did not know that Green sucked so bad.

I want to see Dallas get an O-line coach that can improve the veterans and have the backups ready to kick a** when they are needed. I want someone that has the burning desire to get the team to the Superbowl and not just sucking wind until retirement.

Green sucked because they had him work all year and offseason at guard, then threw him in at tackle.

Awful coaching decisions.

When you coached a line with 3 perennial all-pros, you ain’t gonna be outta work for long.

Frankly, I'm surprised.

Yes, he coached three All-Pros but it isn't as if he developed them out of nothing. I would grade him by how well he developed the guys that were not first-round picks. I give him an F.

They were already when he inhereted them from Calahan....mix in the terrible year they just had, and it's obvious why he was expendable.

That's like some wanting to give credit for the two good seasons but none of the blame for the five bad ones.

I would not say "terrible" but all underperformed (consistency-wise) below their capabilities.

I'm am bias. I hated him when he was drafted and thought that McClay and Jerry missed.

I disagree with you on the position change. Back in the 70s and 80s Dallas had backups that were expected to fill in at guard or tackle. (Larry Allen)

Green was drafted to be a tackle and he failed.. All the excuses fall on Green for not performing and for Pollack having him above backup on the roster.
With that being said, Pollack should have been screaming for his release at Oxnard.

Hmmm, pollack goes to the Bengals - and we are interviewing Anderson, from the Bengals ....
Not sure its a step up. And Bengals think they did ...

I hated our O-line splits for the last 3 years...It was obvious the day Callahan left...gap strategy changed. And it was for the worse. Smaller line splits means smaller running lanes.

Get Anderson and just swap, right. Musical OL coaches. Of course, that's what the NFL is nowadays. Some people will complain if we don't get lots of experience, so we get retreads. Is Anderson better than Pollock? Will a new place reinvigorate him?

The reality is usually when a coach is let go it has to do with a variety of things including unfortunate circumstances. No one was complaining about the line when Collins and Cooper settled in and the three All-Pros were healthy. Then when we had to replace Smith with Green and Bell, there was a weak link in the line.

Pollack deserves some blame for Green not being ready to step in, but Green and Bell sucking is not all on him and the decision to not give them much help when they were sucking is probably not on him at all.

Now, I think we can get a better position coach than Pollack. I'm not sure that Anderson or Cable is it, but, like Pollack, they are out of a job because their groups didn't play as well as they needed to for a variety of reasons. I am sure both guys are probably licking their chops at the thought of coaching this starting group.
