As of 3 p.m. locally, the Cowboys have less than one day to assign tender offers to their 13 restricted free agents, and appear willing to hold out as long as they can. At the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend, owner Jerry Jones was unwilling to discuss the tender offers, though he did say safety Gerald Sensabaugh figured prominently in the team’s defensive plans for 2010.

Ultimately, the Cowboys control the playing futures of each RFA for next year, since they could assign enough draft-pick compensation to each player to keep other teams away.

Cory Procter, one of three RFAs on the offensive line, said Tuesday evening he hadn’t heard much of anything from the team. Procter played under the second-round tender last season. Some of the other RFAs are likely getting the silent treatment as well. “I’m hoping they want to keep me,” Procter said. “But ultimately that’s not up to me. They’ve been relatively quiet, so I’m just kind of waiting to see what they say and take it from there.”

The free agency period begins at 11:01 p.m. (CST) Thursday.
