Position: Cornerback
Height / Weight: 6-1 / 212
Age: 28
College: Jackson State
NFL Exp: 5
How Acquired: FA-'10
Hometown: Amite, La.

Fitting In: Gordon is in a three-man competition with rookies Bryan McCann and Jamar Wall for the fourth cornerback spot. The team hopes one of these players emerges so safety Alan Ball doesn't have to make any appearances as a cornerback.

So Far: It's still early in camp, but secondary coach Dave Campo has said Gordon is the current leader in the position battle because he has more experience. Gordon played well on Tuesday, intercepting two passes during one-on-one drills.

Best Asset: Gordon has a lot of quickness and experience. The team has Dez Bryant to return kickoffs and punts, but Gordon, who has history in both roles, could perform those special teams duties. He also points out that the 2007 Chargers team he played on led the NFL in interceptions with 30. Gordon still hasn't intercepted any passes in his career, but he said he is willing to share what he learned from his experience in the San Diego secondary to help out the team.

You Should Know: Gordon has familiarity with Wade Phillips' defensive scheme. He played for Phillips, then the Chargers defensive coordinator, as an undrafted rookie in 2006. The Cowboys signed him last October, and he appeared in one game (at Kansas City). They released him soon after the game, but he rejoined the team in November and remained inactive for the rest of the season.

A Mouthful: "I just focus on getting better every day. I feel like if I can continue to get better every day, I'll be here with the Cowboys and be able to contribute to this team's success."
