Onside Kick Return Highlights Lamb's Big Day

ARLINGTON, Texas – It's probably not how CeeDee Lamb imagined scoring a touchdown, but he's not complaining.

The Cowboys' rookie season had a productive day in the traditional sense on Sunday, catching five passes for 85 yards against San Francisco. Go figure, though, that his first touchdown in a month came as a member of the hands team.

"Honestly, it all happened so fast," Lamb said with a laugh. "It was a split-second decision."

Falling to the ground would have ended the game, but the way the kick was blocked made it hard to blame the rookie for what happened next. With all his would-be tackler stonewalled, Lamb caught the ball on the hop and took off – all the way to the end zone, as a matter of fact.

"I heard it from the defensive guys afterward, knowing I should've taken a knee – but it was too open," Lamb said.

imagine the hollas if Lamb had bobbled the ball trying to run ? .. it worked out well with him taking off with a big hole opening up for him and the right ball bounce to him ..

also proved that much more valuable when Gallup got hip- hurt and out of the game - even with Cooper being a non factor in this Niners game

Knowing THIS team Lamb likely got in trouble for scoring - it was too risky - might've got hurt and all sorts of other sissy rubbish from coaches.

Lamb is great. I wonder how he and Gallup would look without Cooper on the field bringing the extra attention to him.

Eh, he caught it. All he had in front of him was green. And he's an offensive player accustomed to getting tackled.

The risk was minimal, in a season that blows anyway. I'm glad he did it. Let us get some "easy money" for a change.

Not so good, IMO.

Cooper takes added attention, and has speed to stretch the field. The only speed we have at WR.

Lamb would have been a credible rookie #1WR this year. But he should be paired with speed. That's not Gallup.

People had visions of Gallup as a #1 last year, but I think that was classic WR#2 Syndrome - #2s often will look better than they are because teams worry about the #1, and in our case, the RB too.

Now that Zeke looks meh, if Cooper were gone, teams would double Lamb and cheat some safety help over to Gallup's side. Nobody should be worried about us running them over with Zeke or Pollard. I think that would give us shades of 2017, where the field got short because our WRs just couldn't run away over the top. Wouldn't be quite so bad with Dak's improved deep ball, but still a problem.

Lamb has taken some shots this year that I'm surprised he got up from. He is shy about contact, that's for sure.
