DD Wednesday Morning: North Practice:
Temperatures were a little cooler today in Mobile, but still beautiful weather for the North's morning practice. It was relatively quiet in the stands, as the North roster doesn't draw huge crowds. Still the players were hitting hard and trying their best to impress the N.F.L. personnel watching.
Offense:
Fresno State running back #10 Lonyae Miller showed the speed to turn the corner on toss plays and was elusive once through the first level.
Wisconsin tight end #89 Garrett Graham continued to make plays; Graham endured a huge hit from Nebraska defensive back #27 Larry Asante, but it was Asante who ended up on the ground as Graham took it to the house.
Ohio wide reciever #23 Taylor Price climbed the ladder for a high ball and has been impressing many evaluators here with his speed and hands.
UMass offensive lineman #70 Vlad Ducasse is strong but raw and can be exploited at tackle. But as a guard there is alot to like about this player.
Vanderbilt offensive lineman #75 Matt Welch was a welcome addition to the tackle-starved North squad. He showed adequate footwork and strong handplay.
Defense:
Arkansas State defensive end #96 Alex Carrington was dominant again in the Pit, running over blockers with violence. There might not be a limit how high his stock can rise.
Penn State defensive tackle #91 Jared Odrick had a great day, exploding through the line. His talent cannot be questioned, but he needs to work on being consistant.
North Carolina defensive tackle #95 Cam Thomas is a high-motor plugger inside, and can also push the pocket. Teams are looking him as a nose tackle.
Utah linebacker #40 Koa Misi displayed quick feet and change of direction ability. He lost his footing at times, but could contribute to several defensive systems.
Virginia defensive #2 Chris Cook showed good hip-flip and coverage skills. Cook recorded an interception in 11-on-11's. He has rare size and could play corner or safety.
Cal defensive back #5 Syd'quan Thompson is another player with great change of direction. He covers ground quickly.
Boise State defensive back #1 Kyle Wilson brutalized new receiver #85 Donald Jones with a jam that put him down. Jones bounced back later with a nice grab in team drills.
