This one looks impossible, especially with Lamb needing a new deal next off-season.
Hopkins would likely play 2 years here, 3 max. If we traded for him, his Lamb would be on a rookie deal his first year, and year 1 of extentions are usually the lowest. His year 1 would probably be less than his option year. Cap wise its very doable. Especially considering Hopkins is willing to re do his deal, and the cap will be rising significantly the next few years

Lamb has 5th year option and then will have a low cap hit on the first year of his extension.

He won't be an elite dollar on the cap hit till 2026. Where unlikely to guarantee a veteran more then 2 seasons so there wouldn't actually be a conflict between paying 2 guys too much each

Just looked at Hopkins contract situation at Overthecap and ooof. He is set to count $29M against Arizona's cap this year ($19.45M base and $10.5M prorated bonus). Arizona does have $30M in cap space but, if they were to move on from him it would likely be via a designated post-June cut or a post-June trade. In my opinion the dead money hits for anything else is too high.

Hopkins makes more sense to me because he’s a short term solution. Lamb is on his rookie deal and when he signs his big deal the cap hits will be low the first few years.

Curious if any of his guarantees were wiped out with the PED suspension.

Edit: Looking at his contract, I guess he didn't have any guaranteed salary left to void, but the no-trade clause was wiped out. It's the big signing bonus that is the anchor around their cap if they ditch him via trade or cut.

So players can recruit other players but management can't?

It started in the NBA.

The young Elite players will recruit via social media. If the Cowboys play cheap...Micah will remember when he's a Free Agent

Finally someone will hold Jerry and Stephen accountable.
